JBL Portable

The JBL Connect app works with JBL Flip 4, Flip 3, Charge 3, Pulse 2 and Xtreme. Use the JBL Connect app for speaker configuration and software upgrade. iPhone 5 or newer is required for compatibility with the JBL Pulse 2.

Settings button does not work
razzberry12

I updated and installed the newest software for my JBL Charge 3 speaker as prompted. Ones the download was complete the app struggled to discover the device. 15 minutes later I was able to discoed the speaker on the app. However I am unable to click the settings button on the bottom of the screen. Due to the fact that this apps primary purpose is to allow the user to manager and customize their devices, I am giving it one star since I can not use the app for its primary purpose.

DO NOT PURCHASE!!!
Very Very Disapointed 20

Just purchased 2 Charge 4 speakers. Neither of them connect to the app. JBL tech support is a joke. Buyer beware!!! No party mode. No stereo mode. No connection to the app. No competent tech support. A waste of money!

Useless

This is the most useless app. It does absolutely nothing.

Clip Speakers Not Supported
NickSparkss

Hugely irritating that the Clip series speakers aren’t supported by this app. I just want to turn off the very annoying, very loud startup jingle.

Party Mode doesn’t work
Mike V 58

Recently purchased three Charge 4 & none of the speakers will connect with each other. Tried updating & re-installing this app with all failures. Also update my iPhone XS Max. Please update this app so Party Mode can work. Love the sound of the speakers but know thinking of returning them.

Stereo Mode is Unreliable
The1whoknoxx

I have had 2 JBL Flip 5’s that I bought because in the product description it indicated that two of these mini speakers could be paired through this app to create stereo sound. Indeed the app does have a stereo mode through the PartyBoost button. However getting the speakers to pair and stay paired together through the link button on each speaker and then the stereo mode through the app is almost impossible for me. When in stereo mode the speakers independently lose and regain signal every few minutes to the point that the mode is unusable. This is especially frustrating because I did get it to work once and they sounded nice. I hoped it was a firmware issue but no, everything is up to date so it just seems to be bad Bluetooth software for my iPhone 11 Pro Max. JBL if you could fix this issue I would be great full and improve this review!

not connecting

I just bought a jbl pulse 3 and was excited to hear all of the functions it had with this app. Well this app doesn’t even connect at all even after updating my phone and restarting it.

Junk if you want stereo
Lector8888

A speaker is no better than its weakest link. Believing JBL’s declaration that I could pair two Xtreme 2s for stereo, I forked out for two of them. But the stereo function works poorly if at all. I assume the problem is this app. I contacted JBL support. They were quick to answer, but basically said the stereo function isn’t working right now, and they don’t have a date for its inception. Meanwhile, they said, you can use the Party mode (monaural sound). Well, thank you, but I wouldn’t have spent the fortune I did for two speakers that can only play the same thing together only louder. This is shameful for a company of this size with this reputation. I won’t ever buy JBL speakers again. UPDATE: several versions of the app later, nothing has changed. The company should be sued for falsely claiming that their speakers can be stereo-paired. They obviously gear their product for people who care about louder, not better sound. Fixing this issue isn’t rocket science. Obscure Chinese companies can offer reliable stereo pairing. This is a disgrace.

Pretty Disappointed
gozilla639

I received one Flip 5 as a gift and it sounded better than the Anker Soundcore Boost I have so I bought a second Flip 5. My mistake. As others have said it’s impossible to get them both to stay paired. I’m tired of messing with them and I don’t see JBL responding to anyone’s post here on their own website so we know how much they care. I guess I now have 3 portable speakers to put on Craigslist... (Did I mention KEEP SHOPPING?)

Does not work, misleading
KualoaZilla

JBL flip 4 does not talk to flip 5. Will flip 5 work with Flip 4. Are you willing to invest in a product that has not delivered. Looking for a Bluetooth solution that will grow with you. JBL promises the ability to keep adding new speakers to your existing speaker. JBL does not / will not deliver. Newer releases of the Flip series will not work with older releases. Poor design. Poor marketing; promising a product that only failed to deliver.
