Get reviews deleted

wont let me post comment

I’m assuming this sketchy app puts requests in to get reviews deleted as I’ve posted numerous and they are never anywhere to be found. I will be reporting the app as they are very shady/biased/racist. Definitely paid for reviews as if you actually have an account you’ll see people complaining about how bad things really are.

App is not bad

Got banned for no reason

I deleted my account because I thought I was spending too much time on the app. I was a paid subscriber. I decided to sign up again but I got a pop up message that “my account violates the community regulations and gets too many reports from other users.” Since I had not been using it for almost two months I wondered how this was possible as I had deleted my account in good standing when I left. I contacted support and they claimed I had used “abusive words”, would have to wait 30 days to sign up for an account again, and that this would be my last chance. I tried to explain that this was a misunderstanding but no one wanted to listen. I feel like I’m at mercy of the whims of others who can decide almost anything is “abusive language”. It’s so ridiculous.

Censorship

I’m learning traditional Chinese so I tend to mostly talk to people in Taiwan. However, HelloTalk routinely censors posts from my Taiwanese language exchange partners and blocks searches with keywords such as “Taiwan”. I realize this app is a mainland China app and may have a political agenda. Can anyone suggest an alternative?

Keeps deleting my chat history!! ?

AutumnAlicia

Ok so I’ve had hellotalk for 2 years now and I never had any issues with it until recently, where I’ll open the app and discover my chat history is randomly gone. it’s happened 3-4 times now and I’m very annoyed. After it got deleted I couldn’t even open the app so I had to delete and reinstall it. And it’s hard to find the people that messaged me so I basically have to start over. Please fix

2ND ACTUALIZATION AFTER NEW RESPONSE: Read the first review: My ACCOUNT WAS BLOCKED FOR WEARING SHORTS ON MY PROFILE PICTURE, how am I supposed to reach you if I can not access it? Do you think I am going to keep apps in my phone that I can not use? ACTUALIZATION AFTER RESPONSE: If you block accounts automatically you need to check your programming not each issue, according to the reviews around this it is a practice you are doing with many of us! INITIAL REVIEW: The only way to deal with this app is to teach wrong your language, my account was blocked because I was wearing shorts on my profile picture. If you want to learn, nobody is going to help you, people just want to drain you, if you want to teach you have to deal with ignorance… Just use Tandem, it is a lot better and not sexist app.

Absolutely amazing

I’ve used pretty much every language method, tool, and book out there, and while some have been very good, none compare with HelloTalk. I joined ten days ago and think I’ve spent more hours studying than in the previous two months. For example, I’ve already done six hours of zoom chats, when until now I’ve only done an hour a week because tutoring is so expensive. And the only reason I haven’t done more is because I joined right before Christmas and got busy for a few days. Part of the reason the app works is that people keep talking to you. It’s too easy to put an ebook or Anki or LingQ or whatever on your phone and promptly forget it exists. I was concerned when I joined that there might be a lot of creeps and weirdos using it as a dating site, but out of 217 people that have visited my profile (in ten days!) only two were obnoxious and their accounts got deleted soon after, so HelloTalk is doing a really good job keeping it clean. You’re basically guaranteed to find at least a handful of normal people you hit it off with and talk to regularly. If you haven’t guessed by now, I’m really impressed with the app and can’t recommend it highly enough.

Good idea but bugs

It stuck me with Finnish as my targeted language. Not sure why, my focus is on Nederlands. Anyway, I can’t switch it unless I pay 63 dollars.. Do not download.

Beware of CCP privacy violations.

This app is from a Chinese company, which given the nature of their government, nothing is private. They will ban you at the drop of a hat, even for posts supporting Hong Kong, pro-freedom fighters, or references to Tiananmen Square. Multiple users have reported sending in pictures of their IDs or passports to “prove” they’re real. I have never heard of this from any app, it should raise serious privacy concerns.

The buggiest app i have ever experienced!

Mr.Haboubi1988

Freezes after few seconds of opening the app. Unbelievable.
