Guys don’t download this app. You have to pay for most of the things and if you don’t pay they will find an excuse to lock your account so you won’t be able to talk to anyone.

I have had it for a day now ad I love talking to people but also there is a few things I don’t like 1 I would like it to suggest some people in the same time zone.

I downloaded this app as a way to help me learn Spanish and yet there are fundamental problems here that make me not want to you this app. 1. Why is there no third gender/ non-binary option? As a non-binary person it feels horrible to not be allowed to be myself on this app. It also does not make sense that for an app about language learning, the important conversation about how non-binary people interact and are represented within a language can not be properly discussed if non-binary people feel excluded from the experience. 2. The paid version. Way to much of this app is behind a pay wall and it keeps shoving it in your face. It is just annoying.

Bugs Need Fixing

Please this is an amazing app but the bugs needs fixing!!!!!!!! Keeps blacking out, bringing me back to my Home Screen, glitching, replaying audios etc. The concept of sending audios to practice speaking is amazing. I love that they keep the audios at a maximum of one minute because it gets hard understand to a foreign language for more than that. And you can replay the audio multiple times to understand. There are kind people who will answer and want to practice with you and want to learn your native language. I love how you can adjust the “Who Can Find You” settings so you don’t get creepy older men trying to call you before you even had a conversation. This makes me feel comfortable and safe on the app.

I really like this app, I use to learn Korean and also to help other with Spanish. it’s a great app if you are looking to learn and practice any language. I meet great people here with same goals about languages. I’d high recommended this app. Please keep it as a education tool.

One account per device rule is annoying and ridiculous

I’m extremely disappointed by the “one account per device” rule that they have. Apparently, even after you delete your own account that’s never been reported or blocked and has been in good standing, it won’t let you create a new account because of that. I’ve done this a lot because I got bored from lack of interactions or anxious from floods of messages. They’ve told me this was the last time I was allowed to create a new account on this device or else it would be permanently disabled. I told them I was confused about this because this was the first time I was making an account on my new phone, last time I had an account was about almost two years ago on my old phone. They still thought I was using an iPhone X, I told them that I am not using that device anymore, I’ve upgraded and transferring my data to a new one. Lastly, they told me to note that I cannot create an account using a false identity or information. I only ever used a pseudonym and the only “false” thing I had was my location, even then, it was set to private so nobody could see it and HelloTalk uses your GPS location for your profile anyway. I wanted to like this app and even become a lifetime member but I don’t think that’ll happen until they remove this stupid feature.

Account is acting strange

My account is taking longer than expected to load anything or send a message. I have no info or picture on my profile, and my post feed is completely gone. I’m just trying to reconcile this issue and don’t understand what’s happening exactly. I’ve not had any problems before this. It’s always worked perfect

I was on the app for quite sometime, Nobody responded to my messages, Then I decided to subscribe for the VIP, But I got a notification that my account has being logged in else where and immediately after I was told that my account was blocked, please I want HelloTalk to fix this and send my payment back or reactivate my profile, or I’m gonna continue posting bad reviews here...

It’s like a language learner’s heaven. I don’t need to say anymore. It’s not for absolute beginners, but once you’ve reached the point where online courses are just mindless, this is the next step.

Pretty good - ads are annoying

It’s pretty good if you’re lucky enough to find people you want to message with privately. The random ad notifications are annoying. Dark mode would be nice. The Move & Scale option when uploading a profile picture doesn’t really work. It won’t let my post or send pictures or send recordings on my university’s network. It gives me a Network Error. When I return home, it seems to work find.
