I got a new phone, set it up with the old phone, now the Authenticator is always wrong. Good work.

This app doesn’t work anymore, locking me out of some important accounts and costing me actual money on lost purchases. I’ve re set it up, uninstalled/reinstalled, searched all over the web, nothing works. It spits out a code that doesn’t work for anything. I’ve been a gmail user since it was in beta. This crap never should be released. DO NOT USE!

Do not use this, recently my phone had broke, and Upon getting a new phone today I go to sight into apps, and this, only finding out I can and there is no way for me to. They should have some sort of way other than isk your old device or code to get in.
Works But When You Transfer Phones

Had to use Google Authenticator for some work logins and I also just opted to use it for one of my Gmail accounts for extra security since I’ve had a couple hack attempts on that account. Works fine. Until you switch iPhones which I do every year to 18 months. You would expect all your information to port over right? The same way Microsoft Authenticator does, right? It doesn’t. You have to manually authenticate it from both phones to do the transfer. Except there is zero mention that you have to do this until you’ve wiped your old phone and sent it back as a trade in. Not sure which one of Google’s Incel coders thought of this but it’s a horrible idea. Theoretically you can end up getting perma-locked out of something mission critical.

The reason why most people are giving this app a low score is exactly why I am giving it a high one. People are upset if you loose your code that this app doesn’t keep a backup or if you loose your phone that you can’t attach the app to your cell phone number and store your data. This is exactly what I want. You need to write down your codes and store them somewhere safe when you use this app. If someone illegally port forwards your phone number this app keeps you safe. If you loose your phone, your safely stored written down codes keep you safe. I suffered identity theft and my phone number was stolen, this app is the only reason they didn’t steal more information from me.

This app works exactly as intended. Of course it won’t save your passwords or credentials, what the heck is the point of a security app that puts your security at risk? It’s quick and straightforward and has a separate code for each account you use it for to add additional security. The code changes every 30 seconds, enough time for only you to use it. If you don’t understand how something this simple works, kindly remove yourself from the internet and go read a book, like computers for dummies. Works great for crypto/meta enthusiasts!
