With 2-Step Verification, signing into your account will require both your password and a verification code you can generate with this app. Once configured, you can get verification codes without the need of a network or cellular connection.
Features include:
- Automatic setup via QR code
- Support for multiple accounts
- Support for time-based and counter-based code generation
To use Google Authenticator, you need to enable 2-Step Verification on your Google Account. Visit http://www.google.com/2step to get started.
Requires iOS 5.0 or later.
This is a basic 2FA app with no backup. Google put zero effort into this. Literally ANY other 2FA app is better.
Can’t authenticate your account because you changed a phone? Yep. Won’t let you do anything except import data but you need the previous device - sure, all of us are thinking about that when we switch phones and trade it in…so long for having any recourse. What a stupid stupid design. Who designs these things with customers in mind??? Obviously not these folks
This App is terrible and not user friendly. If you loose a phone or for some other reason do not have access to the phone you had when you set up the Authenticator app you will not be able to access accounts that are using it for two factor authentication and that information will be lost to time.
This app I trusted for logins in many useful apps and this terrible app didn't give me a code. 1 star I do not recommend it.
Absolute garbage app. Go with probably any other Authenticator app. There is no recovery method so if the app fails for a phone update or reset you can kiss your access to your accounts good bye! Thanks google for losing multiple accounts For me! I wish I could give a negative review this is ridiculous coming from a company like Google
Changed phones and now I’m screwed. Google has no support and they arrogantly make fun of you. ALL HELP LINKS ARE DEAD-ENDS DO NOT USE THIS APP
If you have to use this, never get a new device. Otherwise you are TSOL
Reset my phone didn’t know I needed a QR code to get my authenticator back, lost all of my accounts and can’t sign back in thanks google
My iPhone caught on fire. Lost my google auth app and info and it doesn’t transfer to a new device so lost all my emails and steam account and everything and apple nor google can do anything.
