I had this app forever, but now I understand its power

I don’t give five-star reviews, but GoodNotes deserves it. I started using it a few weeks ago with an iPad Air 2 and the Adonis Pixel stylus and it was phenomenal, we had to shift some gear around in our home and I needed a new upgrade, even my skeptical wife loves the way the Apple Pencil works with GoodNotes on the iPad Pro! A practical example: I use Evernote for gathering all my electronic loose ends. I had been searching for a good handwriting solution since Microsoft OneNote first came around, but that turned me away from ink. I used to use InfoSelect back in the days of MS-DOS and liked the feature that let you create individual calendars, say to track a certain kind of event, like when you last had your oil changed. I don’t want this on my “main” calendar, it’s not important, but I want to be able to track it. GoodNotes lets me create a kind of analog solution for that - I can create a monthly calendar in Excel using a template, save it as a PDF, bring it into GoodNotes and then mark it up. I can also view it on my iPhone or Mac. I find myself reverting to the daily piece of paper to-do list, and as I make notes I can later copy and paste the relevant sections into Evernote. (I have a notebook for vendors, so if I call Comcast about something I keep notes and whether they’re ink or text, they’re dated, and I can find what I need). That’s key for me, where did I save it!

Almost perfect... more pens please!

I’ve used about every note taking app out there on iOS and have even developed my own (but for Tablet PC). This has great potential and I can almost use it for studying and taking high volumes of medical notes but please PLEASE PLEASE... add two (or three) more customizable pens to the top toolbar. There is room! Clicking 2 times to change colors or 3 times to change color and thickness takes toooooo long when writing notes in a lecture (usually 30-50 detailed pages in 40 minutes). Zoom has a change color feature, but zoom is not the best option as I need to jump around the page rather than write linear notes. I can say that I’m not the only one these detailed class that wishes to have this feature. Just a few more custom pens... please! As for backgrounds... I’d love being able to add my own paper template or cover book as well. Or even changing the transparency option on some of the ruled as there are a number of paper backgrounds but some are a little over powering for me. More importantly, some note taking (complex math, languages, or lab observations) can benefit with customized left & right single or double lined margins, so the template feature it very very handy! As for note taking itself... very response and I can tell the developers have made use of apple's API for predictive writing with the Pen. Well done. A great app that doesn’t disappoint and even better with just a few extra features... ;)

Version 4 is getting a little dated people.

I used GoodNotes while getting my masters and as I finish my doctorate, I’m still a loyal user. For me, it beat Notability and Noteshelf. Each app has their own strengths, and each have their weaknesses. GoodNotes is the best balance for me. That said... WHEN WILL VERSION 5 BE RELEASED? I searched the web and found a tweet from GoodNotes saying it was awaiting approval in Sept 2017. Really? This seems a bit lengthy for approval. I have 3 years of notes and research in my GoodNotes library, I have it all synced to Dropbox, and accessible through my MacBook. I spoke very highly of this app and taught media professionals, government workers, and other students how it can make them more efficient. But, I don’t know if I can really recommend it anymore after trying NotesPlus. Launch your upgrade or let loyal users know you’re out of the game so we can move on. If Ver 5 is as good as previous versions, I’ll stay. But, once I take them time to convert all of my work to NotesPlus, I’m gone forever.

Unbelievable possibilities

I love this app! Use it everyday, all day. When other people witness me using it with my iPad Pro they immediately download it. I was in the middle of meeting with a new manufacturer preparing a order, both executives stopped and downloaded the app, imported their paper work as template, then filled in my request. In turn they were able to immediately email my form to factory before I left the table. Productivity!!

Bug Fix?

Millernj1

I am in medical school and really like what this app has to offer. My only complaint is that when I attempt to start a new page within a notebook, zoom to the top left corner, and begin to write, the app almost ALWAYS crashes. It is extremely annoying. I can quickly open the app back up, re-open my notebook and repeat the aforementioned process, and it always seems to function properly the second time. Any chance we can get a solution to this problem. Other than that, I love the app.

Great app!!

I really love this app for taking notes. I’m in medical school and appreciate how easy it is to upload class documents and lectures into the app for editing on my iPad or computer.

Awesome, but...

This app has really helped me make the transition from pen and paper to digital note-taking. I would really like to see a pen that can draw dashed lines and possibly a mode that would enable you to draw smooth curves for graphs!

Loving it buuuuuut.....

So I’ve been using goodnotes for everything since I got it and I am absolutely loving it ❤️ it writes really smooth and it’s so easy organize. I love that I can add my own page templates since I love writing on dotted paper, it’s awesome that I’m not just limited to what’s in the app. My one complaint with goodnotes is that I wish it had the capability to record and play back audio in the app. That would really help me when reviewing notes on lectures. That’s the one thing I think notability has on goodnotes. Notability lets you record audio and still write at the same time. Then plays back the audio and takes you to the page you were on when that part was recorded. Which is such a nice feature to have when you’re trying to keep up with a lecture.

Best. APP. EVER

Missing paperwork is a thing of the past. This is by FAR the best app ever purchased! Everyone who sees me use Good Notes is blown away by its application. This app allows me to send a handwritten note quickly and efficiently. I can even sign a contract and write on a PDF! This app has allowed me to free up my work bag of traditional pens and paper notebooks. I use this app every day; it has completely changed the way I conduct business. Since you are able to create multiple notebooks, I have a notebook for every facet of life- condo association, personal health info, etc... Good Notes has helped to keep me organized, with all of my life's notes in one place!

The most useful and reliable notebook app

GoodNotes works way better than any other note app I’ve tried. It actually works like how I would use a normal notebook but enhanced by the fact that it’s not real paper. Everyone needs to give this app a try. Very intuitive
