News in a bite

Good variety of opinions and content. Scalable to the individual

I used to spend a lot more time reading in the app than I do now. Isn’t it enough to have adds embedded in the articles? And not interrupt my reading with annoying pop ups and banners? Enough is enough.

Used to be a great app
Drhubbard

I used to love this app, but now Flipboard has recently included new adds that automatically open the Apple App Store to the advertised game. These new adds now make Flipboard unusable because you can’t scroll past the add. Bummed because now I can’t use my favorite news app anymore.

Wide variety of stories
HiWhoHeenee

Unlike many other news sites that do not refresh their stories, Flipboard is superb at providing new content as much as possible.

Tuning preferences ignored
The Continental

I realize that a user-curated newsreader like Flipboard is a sort of filter bubble by design, but then Flipboard piles its own filter bubble on top of yours. No amount of “tuning” will reduce the relentless onslaught of Kardashian Photoshop fails inundating my Photoshop magazine, which I dearly wish could be about Photoshop. Also, no matter how often I try, I can’t tune away the dank, murky Storyboard eyesores that yank viewers out of the Flipboard visual aesthetic. Add the above to the ubiquitous ads and ever-increasing subscription come-ons, and it’s clear that Flipboard has lost its lead over Apple News. It’s still good, but no longer great.

my favorite App

I just live this app. Easily customizes to my favorite subjects

Too many subscriptions

The app used to be very good Now every story requires you to subscribe to it.

Constant crashing of pages to reader view mode, for years now
Saki bomber

Constant crashing and/or crashing to reader view only. Constant unnecessary refreshes of the pages (any of them) BECAUSE OF ADS RELOADING causing the crashing as well. This has been going on since at least 2018. No update has ever fixed this. Simply, the constant ad refreshes on any page on any article is crashing the app into reader mode and the only option is to reload the page or go into web mode. iPhone 7.

Needs an update to its editing options
fm yates

It’s not bad. It’s a good way to keep track of articles and stories you’re interested in. Use it to make a nice little daily run down of subjects your interested in. One draw back: If you want to post comments? It has NO EDITING button. Make a mistake? Your only option is to erase the whole thing and start from scratch. Also a bit heavy handed with repeating ads.
