Could not stay because covid positive and can’t get refund

I had a 2 night reservation and got a positive covid test the day of check in so I was unable to stay. Expedia won’t refund me, and the hotel also won’t since I booked through Expedia. It has been difficult enough dealing with covid positive case and other travel related nightmares. I expect more from Expedia to support their customers during this time.


Book directly with the Airlines

I have been using expedia for years and never had a problem. That been said I would not recommend it to anyone for book a flight it better and safer to book directly with airlines… First you this guys told me I have No Credit on a flight that I book with you Them and I go to United website and get my credit without any problem then I try to use a credit from JetBlue and Expedía want charge me $100 per person because I take too long for book my flight, what if ask that doesn’t make any sense because the flight was cancel and I supposed to have Date for a new flight right away…. Just go to airlines website and book your flight directly with them it would save you a lot of time if you have any inconvenience…

Never buy with CheapOair, it is likely that you will lose the tickets, even if you pay for the insurance they do not care, if you need to make a change they tell you that it depends on the airline, if then you request a refund for the insurance they will redirect you to another company, still in the current situation and the issue with the borders of different countries do not care, buy the insurance it is a scam

I can officially say I am done using Expedia for booking flights. The hastle I had to deal with due to covid and having to change my flight was not worth saving $5 compared to other sights. I purchased cancellation insurance and they still made it impossible to change my flight, they told me I was incorrect about my flight being cancelled due to weather when it really was. And on top of it all when attempting to change flights, when I contacted customer service they told me to refresh my page and I instantly saw the price jump up $100. Along with all that there customer privacy is terrible, when on hold I was able to hear other customers account information and I assume others must have heard mine as well. And I was on the phone for almost two hours just to be told the same things from someone higher up. Not worth saving $5 to deal with this app or company.

What gives? Where is Expedia‘s customer support? There is only one automated phone number-Good luck navigating it. It takes an hour to three hours in a hold queue for them to call you back. I was sent an email that I had a flight credit.Why did I have a flight credit? Because Expedia.com canceled my flight and I was stuck in another state. I had to check in with the airline to find that out and rebook a flight back home. Fast forward and I went through the phone tree to find out why I could not book my credit flight online. After an hour and a half, Expedia called me back and said that the credit was with the airline. After I called the airline they said it was with Expedia. After another 2 1/2 hours on hold, I was told by the customer service agent “Grace” (who has no Employee ID or department title other than that name) that there was nobody else that she could transfer me to. No fraud department. No complaint department. No management team. No supervisor. No sales. No one. I finally ended up booking with another agency for almost $100 less than what I was finding on Expedia‘s site. I will never use Expedia.com again.


Overall Good w/ Inefficiencies

I use the Expedia app daily to plan trips for the year. I find their pricing to be competitive and fair. However, the function of the app isn’t very intuitive. It’s difficult to share a trip with someone unless you’ve actually purchased the trip. Having a bookmark feature would be convenient as well.

Avoid this company. But if you must, make sure you screen record any transaction you make. These guys are flat out thieves. Test it out, try canceling your account and see how long it takes….
