Incredibly Slow
MrGuns

So sad that a company this big would have such a terrible app. It is incredibly slow and glitchy.

Why So Slow?
Jim Stanson

The app takes forever on searches. I can search elsewhere, order, and receive an item by the time a B&N search finishes.

The app says it cannot connect to the network. So I couldn’t even get on!! Please fix this.

Frustratingly Bad

Slow. Takes forever to start up. Often crashes. Requires a login every time one opens the app. It’s easier to use the mobile site.

Needs work

Password must be re-entered too often. Sometimes, it even says you gave the wrong password but I did notice that once in a while during the password check an extra dot in the password box appears and doesn’t allow sign in. How about fingerprint ID? Improve your password processing, it’s a joke!

B&N does not want apps
aleydae

Looks like B&N think that 2018 still doesn’t warrant too much dedication to online availability and presence for their customers. The app, even though it is much needed for B&N Membership members since they can only get discounted prices online, is of no productive use since (1) it logs you out every single time you close the app, (2) if you check your order shipping status by tapping the link provided, it opens within the app the usps site and then you cannot go back to the B&N app page, therefore forcing you to close and re-open the app and re-enter you email and password, a real problem when you have multiple orders. Finally (3) no maintenance to the app to improve it. Oh, and best of all, (4) if you tap the ‘App Support’ link for this app within the AppStore, it takes you nowhere, only to the main mobile version website of B&N, so no help from them either. I love buying book, and not the electronic format, and spend a lot of my time and money in B&N. If they want to compete with Amazon and not go obsolete like Borders, they need to get their business together when it comes to mobile access for their customer, which is all that its about nowadays.

Please fix the online experience I am becoming very nervous.

I no longer have the confidence to order from Barnes and Noble . My order was placed and nothing was shown in order history. I loved Barnes And Noble for years going to their physical store, with the internet buying experience it is a different story. You need major upgrades for your system!

Frustrating as HECK
newdaddy06

I dearly want Amazon not to be the only US retailer of books, but sweet iguana on a stick, this B&N retail app is all kinds of bad! Please B&N, just sit down with Amazon and B&N apps, side-by-side on the same iPhone, and see how different the experience is! Most frustrating is just logging on (almost every other fill form on iOS has either a default or remembers what was last used), but close seconds are when the app launches a web browser to access coupons, pop ups and side-sliding windows and panels for no good reason, and the extreme difficulty involved in using a gift card from the iPhone interface. It’s slow as molasses too! Please make this app more usable! It deserves your continuing efforts! You are losing money and customers every day, with this app as it is.

What’s the point of this app?!?
CharmingPiper

I’m standing in the store and I need to find a book on card games. I open the app and try searching, it asks me to use my location - fine, it finds a couple of books - great point me in the direction...but no, it can’t tell me where in the store to find the book. I try the reserve in store option with fading hope and the app ASKS FOR MY ZIP CODE!! I’m standing in the store and I allowed you to access my location and you still can’t tell what store I want to search in? Useless!! 7 min fiddling with the app and I had to go to the help desk to ask a VERY grumpy woman where to find a book of card games and she types that in and says I don’t have any book by that name!! I explained I wanted a book OF card games... the app is as incompetent as the staff. It’s like they want me to shop at Amazon.

How?
adivineeternity

How is it possible to have an app THIS BAD? This thing so rarely works and every time I want to load it to shop, I have to close an reload it five or six times. Despite the app’s shopping feature, it defaults to opening a browser to shop if you try to shop from anything other than the search bar. What the heck was the app team thinking releasing this? Just use the website, guys. It’s easier and quicker.
