Poor UX (user experience)

BaldGoth

I am a software developer, and I would be embarrassed to release an app this poor. All of the “just read the docs” reviews miss the point. Modern apps are intuitive, at least for common features. I shouldn’t have to be reading forums to learn how to study all cards in a deck in random order. For this price, I expect excellence. The sync is poor; it regularly tells me my version on AnkiWeb is incompatible and I can only do a one-way sync. Adding cards on a Mac and syncing to a device should be a standard workflow. The number of options is mind-boggling, but common options are difficult to find. I want to love this; it works and lets me create my own flashcards, but I’d drop it if I found something better. The attitude of forum fanboys doesn’t help.

DEVELOPERS ARE LAZY/ APP UPDATE IS NEEDED

Markzwanz

PLEASE MAKE AN UPDATE THAT WILL ALL THE USER TO HIGHLIGHT AND MARK ON THE FRONT OF THE CARDS. AN UPDATE THAT ALLOWS THE USER TO EDIT CARD PICTURES WITH THEIR APPLE PEN IS WELL OVERDUE. LISTEN TO YOUR USERS. WE HAVE SPENT ALOT OF MONEY FOR THE APP, WHEN ANDROID USERS ARE FREE TO USE THE APP FREE OF CHARGE. DEVELOPERS, PLEASE STOP BEING LAZY AND LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.

Anki for As

TangyWasabi

I’ve had a 4.0 in every semester since I began using Anki. If you use the app correctly, you’ll learn those cards. The app itself is fantastic and does everything perfectly. Being able to study while my girlfriend spends an hour looking at books is a great thing. The sync feature also works dreams, I can be studying on my desktop, need to poop, sync on my desktop (>1 sec), sync on my phone (>1 sec), then study on the toilet! Absolutely amazing.

Scam alert!

DeepImpunity

Really really bad app. I've been using android and the pc versions for years and this is the worst version I ever seen. The fact the good ones are free and this guy wants to charges $25 is pure insanity. Cant even find the deck option to change daily study limit. 1 hour so far of googling and searching and no help. There isno deck option or tool menu on my ipad pro version. At the point I'm guessing the devs are just trolls and hate apple users. Wish I could get a refund.

The genuine Anki, and a gem of an app

dgbeecher

I’m stunned by all the bad reviews. THIS is the only genuine Anki app, and it is a gem of an app. I’ve used this app for countless hours and its aesthetics and functionality are top notch. The developer is wonderful, responsive, and constantly improving this app and the free desktop version too. If you have questions or trouble, consult the clear and thorough help documentation, or visit the forums, or email the developer. Do not be fooled by the other apps with “Anki” in their names.

True dark Mode?

Gtech03

While this app does the job, it’s not perfect. For one, am AMOLED compatible true dark mode would be appreciated. Also, it wold be nice if there was an option to make a shortcut to open additional hidden fields so that it could be programmed into a gamepad

Anki cards are not automatically playing audio anymore

ko4egin

Anki cards are not automatically playing audio anymore. Autoplay enabled but doesn't work anymore upd: it was silent mode ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

MCAT essential

everydayisnormalitsallgood

Seriously, this is the best app ever to study any standardized test. Best MCAT material ever

Horrendous user experience

A. Koontz

I was looking forward to using this app, as it seems to be the most highly recommended flash card app for iOS, across the board. Unfortunately, upon downloading the app, I was greeted with perhaps the least intuitive user interface and navigation experience I have ever seen. Nothing works the way that you would expect it to, and preforming what should be basics tasks requires far more clicks than it should. I don’t doubt that this app does have great functionality, but what’s the point of that if it’s buried under a mountain of UX issues and a massive interface learning curve?
