Waste of time - Useless

NoNothingLoveEverything

A friend was experiencing severe symptoms of her already diagnosed PTSD. As we were at work, and I had things to do, I left her in a private place with THIS app. She was not suicidal; she needed someone to talk to. After 45 minutes of being bombarded by useless platitudes of positivity, no one came to the phone to speak to her, nor did she receive a text message. An utterly worthless application. I’d never, ever recommend anyone to turn to this app if they were in need. Shame on you and your promise of help.

Having trouble

Enjoying the app so far but I cannot post anything through the app when I click reply no key board shows up and I am unable to respond or make a comment. So I order to chat or post I have to log on through safari to be able to reply through my account. All the app is good to me for is browsing.

I love this place!

a caring soul

I am a listener on this app and I absolutely love it, there are a few things that I hope someday 7Cups will be able to add, but other than that, I can’t get enough of this place, it is such a loving community. Things like this are hard to find, and on top of that, 7 Cups does a very good job, I have tried some other similar apps and this one is by far the best. Thank y’all for working soo hard to keep this place up and running! ❤️

Listener account access

I think you should be able to login by username that way it automatically sends you either to your listener or member account. I’m currently having trouble switching accounts.

I'm sure this app works well for some people, and for those wondering if they should try it, I'd say yes. However personally I didn't get anything out of it. The situation I was going through was "too complicated" for the people I talked to, or they ghosted me, and the therapy costs $150 a month with no insurance option. So maybe if you're going through something someone can actually help with, this would be a great app for you. For me, it honestly made me feel in some ways worse.

Awful

The advice given by these listeners is so poor. It is so clear that the listeners have absolutely no experience with counseling and give lazy responses. This could end up really hurting someone. It also takes really long to connect to a listener, and listeners take forever to respond. Absolutely awful app.

Satisfied

No thanks.2

I think the concept of this app is a great one. I do think that the listeners may need better questioning or some extra level of testing before they can become a member. Oftentimes I have either heard about or experienced listeners who have been inappropriate and disrespectful. This is not helpful or acceptable in any way. Thank you for a time. Overall I’ll say it’s a wonderful app. Also please be aware that people still share their contact information even though they are not supposed to and perhaps stricter rules need to be put in place. Thanks again.

I've had to force-close the app on my iPhone 8 several times in the first few minutes of using the app. It gets stuck to where I can't click into the input text box field, and some white bubble shows up at the top of the screen. Also, after just about every chat message, some system-generated blurb gets inserted automatically which interrupts the pacing of a conversation more often than not. Update: it's nice to talk to someone. But the UI gets in the way. Now, I'm getting 1 line of conversation content for every 4 or 5 lines of extra, added text about settings, warnings that someone may not answer immediately, etc... and the keyboard is covering up half the screen already. Clean this up!

It’s actually awesome

You know there’s a lot of issues with free therapy apps but this doesn’t have them. There’s almost no trollers and the help you get actually works. And if you don’t feel like your listener is right for you just find a different one it’s that easy. And they have an extraordinary online page that lets you review listeners so you can find the best fit easily. I love this app and wouldn’t recommend it if I wasn’t sure

This app has listeners that can talk for free. They can be anyone and aren’t trained in therapy. I’m sure some are helpful, but I didn’t find it beneficial for me. The therapists are trained in a variety of backgrounds. I wanted help with adhd, and Im not sure this is the best place for that. The three I ran into didn’t use evidence based practices. The first one only talked about mindfulness. I’m all about mindfulness and trying new things, but that isn’t the solution to everything. I switched to a new therapist who would say broad comments like “how did that make you feel?” I would respond, and then I waited 24 hours for her reply. These questions are legit in a back and forth convo, but I found this frustrating if we are only going to talk once a day. She also didn’t respond to me for 4 days (excluding the weekend), so I switched. This last therapist is better. However, she doesn’t even have adhd listened on her profile, so I question if 7 cups actually matches people well. She responds to my messages, but I think her area is more anxiety and depression based on her responses. Overall, it may be helpful for some mental health concerns. I found there to be a general lack of knowledge about adult adhd and would recommend a different service. However, I’m assuming the therapist plays a huge role in the effectiveness of the app. They do offer finical aid if you qualify making it cheaper than many in person options. I liked the daily texts and think this concept is promising if they do a better job of matching people or maybe letting people look through some profiles and pick a therapist.
