Awesome

Makes the Apple Watch a competitive running watch. Would love to see the app support more analytics of runs & a history / calendar view

It Needs One Button for Lapping (or “Next Interval”)

TheMoose16

I’m a competitive high school middle distance runner. Track workouts are a staple in my training, whether it’s 300m repeats or threshold 800s. I’ve had an Apple Watch Series 3 for some time now, however, I’ve used a Garmin Forerunner 645 for the past few years, due to the ability to press a single button to lap. Having to press two buttons (Digital Crown & side button) makes it tough to accurately lap the watch which is frustrating to say the least. If WorkOutDoors figured out a way to utilize the Digital Crown as a lap button, I (along with many, many other competitive athletes) would be all over this.

Most Excellent Watch App

This is by far one of the best Apple Watch apps I own. It is very highly customizable, with beautifully designed faces while in a workout. It makes the Apple Workout app look pedestrian by comparison. Once a workout is done, you can review the workout either on the iPhone, OR on the watch! If you do regular workouts while wearing your Apple Watch, you owe it to yourself to purchase this app. I think you will be very glad you did. The only change I suggest the Developer consider is to add a Tip Jar so those of us who truly love the app can show our appreciation every now and again.

Great App with a Learning Curve

I have ran with a Garmin watch for years before receiving an Apple Watch as a gift. After researching which apps are best for distance runners, I purchased RunOutDoors as my everyday running app. I think it’s a great app overall, but I decided to list a few things I wish I would have known about before purchasing. 1) The interface is great with tons (maybe too many) metrics. The app allows you to design your own interval schedules and even your watch display for each interval. However, the designing must be performed on your phone then transferred to your watch. While the process is straightforward, the amount of selections for the watch display is massive and can take some time. You can save designs for future use, so hopefully this cuts down on design time. 2) You must calibrate your watch using the Apple app prior to using to get accurate pace and distance readings on WorkOutDoors. While this is an Apple issue and not the fault of WorkOutDoors, it took a frustrating first run and 30 minutes internet research to figure out. Keep this in mind if you’re a first-time Apple watch user. 3) Sometimes data between phone and watch can be disrupted. I experienced an issue where my watch was not receiving uploads from my phone. The user guide addresses this issue with some quick fix tips, but I had to contact tech support for help as the user guide trouble shooting did not work. With the help of tech support, I was able to fix the issue. 4) Tech support from WotkOutDoors is A+! I emailed support with my issue, and they responded within 20 minutes. Super helpful and the fix they recommended actually worked. Overall, I think this app is great, but it could use some small fixes here and there. I think I will enjoy and use this app daily, and I would recommend it to anyone considering purchasing it.

Best hiking navigation app ever

Struckmeyer Michael

Easy for Apple Watch to navigate routes. I used it for every single hiking navigation and track recording in China. Take a glance at the watch is much easier and battery saving than in a phone. I can share the gpx trails between Liangbulu app and WorkOutDoors. It will be better if the interface has Chinese option.

Very complex and feature rich!

This app has everything you’d need to keep track of where you’ve gone and are going on the go. No In-app purchases, No ads, No annoyances whatsoever. Perfect watch app and many of the big names should be taking notes.

Best app for running

I never buy apps and rarely leave a positive review. Whoever developed this app needs a Nobel prize. I finished my first run with it and all I can say is “wow!” Perfect. Thank you

Incredible App

If you moved from a Garmin (or similar) to an Apple Watch, and you miss the screen customization, then this app is for you. For any workout type, there are seemingly infinite customizations you can make to any number of custom metrics screens you can add. It’s easy to do and very impressive. Additionally, this app makes it super simple to download maps for offline use (to the phone and watch), for hiking or other off-grid activities. It’s obvious this developer built this out of a personal desire for an app that didn’t yet exist. It has the features that advanced users want and yet it’s also easy to use out of the box, if all you want is something with more metrics than Apple’s built-in app. This is a must-have for any Apple Watch user.

Best. Best. Best. Not even any competitor comes close!

This is easily the best Apple Watch app ever. The functionality and ability to custom tailor it to your needs is above and beyond. Apple and every other big company should be ashamed of what this app proves… that a small dedicated team can beat their offerings by huge leaps and bounds. I had a question for customer service and emailed support… and they emailed back WITHIN HOURS. And it wasn’t even a generic form response. It was a genuine, detailed repose from someone who cared. Thank you Ian! If you do any outdoor activities and don’t have this app… you are missing out of so much! Just buy it! It’s worth it!

This is the best app I’ve ever purchased!

If you are a runner, whether a new runner or experienced runner, this is the app that you need to purchase!! It has every piece of data that you could ever want, it’s easy to customize, and easy to understand. This is the app that I’ve been searching for since I switched from Garmin to Apple. Thank you so much to the developers for making this amazing app!
