This is great for use as a cloud service, but it needs to able to save directly to the service.

This is frustrating that each time there is bug fix the app stops working until the next patch of fix comes out, which doesn’t happen immediately. Maybe I should turn off auto update just because this app. Please fix this ASAP.

You have to open the app to be able to do the back up . It is not like iCloud or google drive that automatically backup the photos or movies.

After 3 years of using this solution it works great from home and from internet but I learned that you need a great internet router. The bottleneck is internet providers gives you simple and sometimes cheap solutions. I got 100 Mbps connection with spectrum and got my own router Asus with quad antennas for extended range 50 ft. Now my WdCloud is awesome fast from anywhere.

I really enjoy the WD My Cloud app for the most part. I would love to see a few minor changes with the controls and layout though. The ability to skip ahead 15, 30 seconds with either a right swipe like VLC offers or a tapping option like the YouTube player has. I do like the ability to zoom in with a simply double tap, however. I think the WD My Cloud app is quality for the most part, but it doesn't match what VLC offers in terms of swipe/touch features and the ability to generate thumbnails for all of the videos and not just some. I find myself using both for different reasons when it seems like WD could match what the VLC app offers. They are very minor cosmetic complaints, I know, but as someone who needs their media library to look a certain way, it ends up being a big factor. An Apple TV app would be nice too, WD. Just sayin. VLC has one and it's pretty nice. Also, a continuous playback option wouldn't hurt. Again, I don't want to sound ungrateful because it hasn't failed me whenever I want to watch a movie/show that I have on my cloud, but there is room for improvement when it comes to the features/layout of the app.

I've used My Cloud for the last year or so and it has worked flawlessly. I need access to my data without carrying the extra computer or hard drives. Using My Cloud, I can connect to my personal cloud (6 TBs) and stay connected with files from anywhere. Just absolutely love this product.... D Tate
