Nice game

Why would I pay for a subscription?

Der Grumpy One

The app is slow on my 64GB iPad Pro. I have 100K internet and have no connection issues from that perspective. It takes up to two minutes to go to the next move in challenges and exploring. In battle it is unusable. I disconnect sometimes, but when I do stay connected it takes so long to switch characters it’s already the other side’s turn and my team dies without me ever getting to do anything. It’s got great graphics and a good theme. It’s too bad it’s so clunky. I love the concept.

Fun game

Garbeass

It’s a typical app game geared as a data Hoover but def fun for D&D fans!

Needs more content

I like the combat system, but I really wish you didn’t have to spend coins to do challenges. For the adventure progression you can only explore an area once. PVP combat is reasonably fun, but the chests take 3-8 hours to open unless you spend gems. Very little exp is gained for gameplay. The fastest way to level is upgrading gear, but that takes coins and coins run out FAST. I joined a guild and can’t even figure out how to rally or join the raid. Character feats are obtained through pieces of gear, and I’ve frequently had to wear crappier gear to utilize a skill or ability that I preferred over the “upgrade.” More exploration options and less dependence on coinage and blatant money grabs would improve the game dramatically.

Almost no strategy

This game is all numbers. Fight another party that's one level higher, get slaughtered. Fight one that's one level lower, you win. At about level 6, you'll be hanging out at that level until you spend money. Not a lot, but if you've played a pay to win game before, you'll know that they try to squeeze $10-$40 out of you at a time to keep your hero numbers higher than the challenges. The farther you go the more money you have to spend. Or push buttons in order to wait for another chest to open, in which case the game has become a chore. Add strategy to the game and you might get $10 out of me. Otherwise, go start over and use your time to build a real game.

Lots of potential, but . . .

Graphics and game concept are awesome; however, the heavy pay to play mechanics spoil it. You need gold to progress through the dungeons and to be competitive in the pvp part. Gold is essential to powering up characters. I don’t Ming grinding in a game, but reasonable playing doesn’t yield anywhere enough gold to advance the characters. Hence, you have to shell out cash to advance beyond a point. I don’t mind spending a little money on good games - the developers need to make a profit - but this business model is broken. The developers would do well to to emulate the pay to play model of Niantic’s Pokémon go or Wargamming.net’s world of Tanks/World of Warships line of games. It would be a shame to see such a great game go by the wayside because of an unbalanced pay to play mechanics.

Not D&D

So this game makes use of the name Dungeons and Dragons, but does not fulfill virtually any aspects of what makes D&D enjoyable. Characters are not created by you, but a previously created script. There are no choices or storyline to resolve. There is very limited choices for your characters and skills. You can have about 2 to 3 weeks of progress at the start of this game where you will feel like your pocket isn’t being picked. But after that it becomes a grind and a cash grab. A game where you build your character or characters, have an ability to form teams (with other players) and complete tasks/missions, that allows some choices in NPC interactions and storylines, and did a bit more world building would be worthy of your time. This isn’t that, not by a long shot.

Repetitive without Imagination

Blue012307

This game is definitely pay to play. The action is repetitive and unimaginative. There’s no exploration or problem solving as per D&D, and you have to use stock characters so there’s also no personalization. This is not D&D, or anything really close to an RPG.

It’s all been written...

But others were far more generous than this game and designer’s deserves. They talk about tweaking to make the game more playable, but it’s all garbage. When you play explore mode and only get 10 or 15 Xp and it requires 4500 to make the next level and each of those instances last 3 to 5 minutes, do the math. THE only way to advance and stay on par with the mobs you will face that will start out at your level, but within one brief engagement be 5 levels above you and can one shot your toughest character is to spend lots of real money. So to summarize, if your looking for a game that will cost tons to play for virtually no reward and want to repeat that over and over, then by golly you have found your game. Have fun and remember, you have been warned!

Worth it

Great game, in-depth. Doesn’t hold your hand, better prepare or get your butt handed to you
