Poor design

ffrank1234

I agree with other reviews that this app is poorly written. the vehicle-specific PIN should be optional. And there needs to be a way to change units to metric. My car is set to metric. Also, is it me or does the fuel gauge somewhat randomly changes between “distance to empty” and “percentage left”? shouldn’t be too hard to have both and let the user swipe between them. Also the status icons are not very intuitive. Is the car locked is not indicated by the color of the lock/unlock button, no, it needs to be read in a light gray font between the buttons…

What am I paying for

They charge you a monthly fee for this app and it never works ; Can’t lock unlocked vehicle remotely- ridiculous;what is the point of having remote access - is useless I’m canceling my subscription

Slow and lacking, Viper SmartStart is better

chet11

Takes 3-4 minutes to connect to the car for updated status, and that only works half the time. The web site is way more responsive than this iOS app. I can’t imagine subscribing to this. I had Viper SmartStart installed on a previous vehicle and I really really miss it now.

Stop making me login constantly

Jeez! Every. Single. Time. You update this app, it logs you out, which is a serious pain if you don't have a password that is easily remembered. The concept is fantastic, but the execution leaves a LOT to be desired. Update in April 2018: still constantly logs you out, despite setting up TouchID. Once in the app, it works. Otherwise, a serious pain in the rear.

VW should be ashamed.

The app doesn’t work with fingerprint login at all. I’m an IT guy and the team that wrote this crap should be flogged.

Poor companion for an expensive ?

The Car-Net app is not very well built. Two logins are required to look at your car’s status. First you have to login to your account (it forgets my login despite proclaiming Touch ID support! ?), then you have to enter the PIN for the car you want to look at (it forgets that too after forgetting the main login). But it also logs you out randomly. I looked up info on our car the other day and today I’m logged out. The app doesn’t bother to refresh the car info on loading, instead displaying a nearly hour-old status instead. The alert triggers for weather and car status don’t seem to work either. We keep getting alerts on days with clear forecasts. I shouldn’t have to go through all this just to look up where the car is. And to top it off new user registration is broken, my mom can’t use the app because it won’t send her the confirmation email for her account. We’re on the three month free trial, we won’t be transitioning to the paid subscription.

Doesn't work

Doesn't work on passat R-Line

It’s an ok app

VanyT525

The vehicle information comes in useful, as it reminds you of when you should be refueling, changing oil and even when you have left your car’s doors unlocked. However the feature that allows you to lock or unlock your doors remotely from your cellphone takes forever to do so, in fact it takes so long that the car just locks itself before the app can send the signal to the vehicle. Overall it’s an ok app with room for improvement.

Frustrating

Doesn’t work at all

Pretty lame so far

larryinpa

If it asks for a pin, why do I always need to login first? Isn’t the idea to be able to access with pin? The app spoils quite often and sometimes won’t even get that far. Pretty limited functionality. VW, do you even care?
