Needs Dark Mode

In terms of content and substance, New York Times is as good as mainstream news gets. Sure, WSJ has more coverage of business topics and Washington Post will have more emphasis on politics, but NY Times is pretty balanced in that you get a little bit of everything. NY Times is a fun read. My big gripe is with the app. Specifically, there isn't a dark mode option, and it drives me nuts, especially when I want to read at night.

This paper disappoints more each day. Content is good, but not what it used to be. Why can’t I easily and quickly access the New York section? No dark mode. Useless search function. Poor navigation. Battery drainer. Pages don’t load. Washington Post is better on so many counts, and since NYT is not making it easy to access local news anyway, I’m seriously considering switching.
App crashes on iOS 15.1

NYTimes Dev Team, I am sure you are aware of this issue, but the app crashes, after hanging a bit, on iOS 15.1 software version. Please fix and give an update. When ever I am on the comments section of an article, and touch the back button to go back to the main article, the screen freezes. Eventually, it does go back to the main article, but as soon as it does the app crashes. Not a good viewing experience. Thanks.
Dark Mode & Home Page Button Pretty Please

This app has a really lovely and sophisticated look and interface, however I think a bit improvement would be Dark Mode (for iOS) and a Home/Front Page button at the bottom of an article. I often open a story direct from the front page, and then continue reading other stories from links provided at the bottom of an article. By the time I read six or seven stories and want to return to the front page, I have to swipe back through several articles.
1am sports updates?!

NYT keeps pushing notifications for irrelevant sports updates at 1am. This is ruining what is otherwise a fantastic and well designed app. I don’t have notifications enabled for sports, yet still receive them. Sports updates at 1am are not breaking news, and I should not be woken up at 1am to be told that some random team made it into the world series or bougie match.
So bad compared to the WaPo app

The NYT app is slow and buggy. Also it doesn’t include the pdf replica version of the daily physical newspaper, which is available only through a separate (and even worse) app, whereas a pdf replica is integrated into the Post’s app. It’s almost better to just read the NYT webpage, even on a small mobile screen.

Dark Mode PLEASE

Great app. However, it desperately needs a dark/reader/night mode. Frankly, in 2021, it’s ridiculous for a top-tier news app to not have a dark mode.
Sections do not appear in the iPad app

The sections beyond today’s news are missing. There is just a blank page. Updating the app makes no difference.
