I use the Times app on both the iPad and iPhone and have for many years now. My biggest issue is I frequent lose my place in an article if I keep my finger on the screen. The words will rapidly scroll to the end and I will have to retrace my steps. Another issue is the sensitivity of imbedded links where you can quickly find yourself in another web site, video or related article if you are not careful with your fingers. The WSJ seems to have a much better with their swipe left or right philosophy which works flawlessly. I recommend that the TImes reconsider the finger scrolling down or up to advance.

I've been using NYT Now since it came out - amazing app, until it was shut down. I'm assuming this was a tactic to increase paid subscriptions... pretty lame.

Very sad you shut down the excellent NYT Now app and using this as a replacement.

They are using pop-up ads to promote their other applications, and it's ridiculous. Immediately upon opening the app, I get an advertisement blocking my news. Horrible update.

Clearly the New York Times is publishing less and less new material every day. Why else would I keep seeing the same articles over and over again? There in the top stories, every section, in case you missed it, and "smarter living". Instead of using the app, I have bookmarked the today's paper page on the regular New York Times site. Sure, it's not mobile formatted, and pinching and zooming is so 2009… but overall it's a better experience for me because I actually see the day's news each day!

It's a decent user experience, but several articles render better in a browser. The search functionality is lousy; I get better and faster results searching with Google, which takes me out of the app. When this happens several times in a day, I hate it. But if you just want current events and recent articles, it's fine.

Paying a premium for quality news is fine and I'm happy to do it for the Times. However, having annoying advertisements in an app that I have paid for is crazy. For shame, NYT-- this isn't print media. The ads are distracting, play automatically, slow the app, burn through data, and reduce battery life. Paying subscribers should be able to opt out of these ads. My rating will remain a single star until the ad issue is resolved. ?
