Good luck trying to find time that works while watching your credits expire

James Pak

The app really doesn’t feel like it is made to help people. I bought four sessions but the credits for sessions expires after four weeks, so if you can’t find a good time to talk with your therapist, you lose your money, and fork it over to the company instead. Once you talk to your therapist, the clock starts to tick. If your therapist have a limited availability or go on a vacation, you are going have to keep pushing the meeting back, but when you do that, you have to forfeit your expired credits and buy new sessions. One credit gets you one session that you have spend in a week. This feature is a pure money grab. It causes lots of unnecessary stress than actually helping.

Feels like a scam

UPDATE: Unsurprisingly, I’ve only received automated responses to my support emails (except one that didn’t go anywhere). First I was matched with a therapist that didn’t actually have any availability for live sessions. I shouldn’t even be able to match with a therapist with no availability. When I tried to find a new one I was notified that there were no more matches. I opened a case and from the customer service representative’s message it was obvious that they didn’t even read my message. I can’t imagine how stressful this would be for someone who isn’t in a great mental state. I absolutely cannot recommend, it almost feels like a scam. Trying to get my money back since it seems like I won’t be able to get what I paid for.

Horrible horrible horrible customer experience

Fahd001

Paid close to $300 to sign up. Still haven’t spoken to a provider and being given the run around to get back a refund. Multiple emails to their support team and they provided automated responses only this far. I really should have read the reviews before signing up to check out this service (which looked promising from the outside when I signed up), since it seems lots of other people are having similar issues. A real disappointment. I even said in my email to their support team that I don’t need a refund if someone can call me, then I would choose to give them another chance. No one has bothered to contact me yet.

Terrible service

BELLAFAN

Their customer service is completely unresponsive and their contact phone number doesn’t work. Basically a scam. Use something else.

No customer support

I had a billing issue and customer support seems like it’s smart to ignore my messages. They also dont warn you about upcoming payments.

$400 for 5 Text Responses/week

Sugarsmacked

I’ve never done traditional therapy, but wanted to give this a try because the idea of being able to express my thoughts at anytime seemed appealing. I understood the therapist would only respond when they are working, but my experience amounted to me getting a one 30 secondish sound bite from my therapist a day. I think the concept is really cool, if it worked as intended, it would actually make therapy a lot easier for people especially those who are thinking about trying it out for the first time! But the price is pretty ridiculous to just get 1 response/day - 4x a week. Oh and I spent half of my first subscription matching because my first therapist never responded back, after I poured my heart out answering her “get to know me” questions. My advice is you can reach the same type of help you would get from Talkspace just by journaling, but if you really need help, find the time to go to a therapist. It’s actually cheaper too.. Again, great concept. Maybe some day when therapist are hired for this platform specifically and can actually deliver support rather than IG like comments on your thoughts.

Highly Unresponsive and unreliable

I have been dealing with postpartum rage and anxiety. I was going through a particular rough patch and was advised to find a therapist for treatment. I have twin babies and unable to get out the house so I decided to take the online route. On November 10th I spoke with Ivanna at Talkspace that recommended I work with a therapist that specializes in maternal mental health. I was then able to find a recommended therapist named Denise Davis-Moore. I was advised Denise would respond to my message or reach out to me within 24 hours. 10 days past and I never got a response from Denise. I had also scheduled my first live online session roughly a week out and Denise never confirmed and ended up missing the session all together. I then reached out to customer support asking for a refund and they too were unresponsive. They didn’t respond until I reached out again asking for a reply to my original question. I have finally received my refund but I must say I’m highly disappointed and dissatisfied with their service altogether.

Not helpful

Whenever I hear ads for talkspace I get so upset because they are false. The first therapist I got paired with dismissed my concerns, and then the next copy pasted responses that I could have also found on Google. You’re better off paying for an in person counselor.

Horrible experience even worse customer support

arg1e

I usually do not leave reviews, but this one is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. When I get in a session it straight up does not work, therapist can hear me, but I can’t see them nor hear them. Tried 5 different devices. Four days since the issue and still no reply from customer support. If I could have given the app 0 stars I would. Pretty terrible stuff from a mental health app lol

Insurance Scam at its Finest

Nwgll

The platform, process, introduction, and orientation are very appealing initially, but after multiple therapists who No-Showed on meetings, didn’t respond to messages ever (talk space has a “guaranteed response window”… pfft!), and being charged my account/ insurance without any response from customer service, I cancelled my membership and took it as a life lesson. It’s unfortunate that the company would be so reckless with individual’s mental health and those seeking alternative guidance in the world today. I’m sure I could’ve cycled through therapists and tossed away money until eventually landing on a good therapist, but if TalkSpace doesn’t care then why should I try. Very disappointing! If someone is seriously seeking betterment in their life with convenience, there are responsible apps out there. I switched a few weeks ago and it’s amazing! Someone should tell Michael Phelps about what he’s putting his name on.
