High hopes - dashed

Pilot Joe

I had high hopes for my SyncUP drive device for tracking business mileage. When it works it seems pretty cool - you can see past trips, tag them as business, and export the trip data. The problem I have with it is that every few days SyncUP congratulates me for adding a new car to my account (nope, no new car was added nor was the device moved - it’s the same old car with the SyncUP drive continuously installed) and then promptly clears all previous trip history. It doesn’t actually show a new car either, just the same old car but with no history. So, given that I bought this specifically to capture trip history the SyncUP is a total fail. Wish it wasn’t so.

Worked great until 3 weeks ago

suzie9988

I got notifications every time the car was opened and started, even where it was, it worked great. Now about 3 weeks ago I receive nothing.... it can go days with out telling anything. I have to sign in all the time and then it still won’t give me any notifications. I’ve rebooted the plug and even unplugged it to see if that works, still nothing. I’m seriously thinking about stopping service if it won’t start to work properly.

Worst

GrkGirly

My log in drops daily, sometimes my password isn’t accepted, and WiFi is difficult to obtain.

Needs an update

Rated Esoteric

It keeps showing the my vehicle is parked even while driving and has been doing this for the last two days. I’ve logged out and logged back in several times and still showing that the vehicle is parked in the same as it was two days ago. There should be some kind of reset button for the app in the case should this happens.

Worst service app ever

Galtzo

This app makes me livid. When they work and the apps also work, it is great. Unfortunately anything less than 99.99% working is terrible here. But first, the hardware. The sync up device is poorly designed. I have two of them, one for each vehicle in a two car family. On the 2006 Honda Oddyssey the fit on the port was too loose, and as it was slowly coming unplugged the alerts went crazy. It told us all sorts of things were wrong that were re not wrong, and eventually that the new battery was dying, also false. The battery dying notification would have been the tip that it wasn't working right if it wasn't for the fact that I had already taken it to the shop to have the other notifications checked out, and learned it was all false. On the second vehicle, 2013 VW CC, *the same fit problem*, only worse. The device fell out of the port while I was driving and slid under the pedals when I was braking. This is dangerous. Now for the app. As a result of the dangerous scare above, I left it unplugged for a few months. I then decided to plug it back in to start using it again, thinking perhaps I could seat it more firmly(?) but was unable to get logged in. The reset password feature was not working at all. When I tried to use it, it told me I didn't have an account. False. I hate being lied to by apps. I angry emailed support and asked them to release a fixed version of the app. Fast forward to today, I decided to try again. They fixed reset password!! But after resetting my password and logging in I am taken to "activate device" screen. This is odd, as I had already activated my device... So I scan the IMEI code, and it says that the device is registered to someone already... Yeah, to ME!! Canceling the activation logs me out. There is literally nothing I can do. And now for the service: 2GB per month for $20? Because this limit if so stupidly low I end up turning off wifi whenever I get in the car, because I already have unlimited on my phone, and it uses the same LTE cell connection. Redundant and pointless. Do yourself a favor, cancel your contract for syncup ($20/month?) And buy an "Automatic" instead. Unlimited 3G connection for 5 years, and zero fees or contract.

Real time notification lag

InVaCiOn

The app is cool but my only problem is the notifications are not in real time. I open the car and i get a notification 2-5 mins later that it happened. Pleaseeeeeeeeeee, fix thisssss! And my life will be complete!

Doesn’t work

I use this app to track mileage for my job. Usually by going into trip history and selecting the trips I need. Definitely can’t access anything before last week. Super frustrating.
