App updates force new set-ups

Wfrykman

Like most apps, this one updates frequently. The problem is these updates often will leave you without functionality until you spend have your day on the internet trying to figure out how to reset back to factory settings, googling online chat room support, reconnecting the system to your WI-FI network and more. Sometimes the app updates seamlessly, sometimes I can get my music back up in just 20 minutes and sometimes it can take several hours or even days. In either case, you’ll be on your own. Aside from the updates and the associated loss of one’s music until you can reestablish, Sonos is a great system.

Glitchy

TLGman10

When it works, it’s great. But too much of the time it just stops working, and somos speaker disappear never to return unless they are powered off and on and off and on and .... Terrible experience when this happens. So bad, we just don’t bother using it most of the time.

Lack of Support for Legacy Products

Paoli Passemger

Sonos was one of (the?) first linked wireless speaker products several years ago. We really liked their control app, speaker design, sound quality, etc. However, last year, they tried to “upgrade” their operating system to make our older generation products obsolete. Those older products happened to be mainly the ones that required a Sonos amp and used built-in third party speakers. Sonos was trying to push consumers to their newer all-in-one amp/speaker combinations. We do have several of those, and they work fine. However, we really resented them forcing an upgrade on us. You only have to look at Sonos’ website to note they are charging a premium price for their products. At these prices, you should be able to expect 15-20 year product life in my view. Sonos eventually caved to angry consumer demand last year, but the app has started to get VERY balky with the first generation products. I’m not techy enough to figure it out in fact, but it certainly feels that the first generation products are being slowly neglected. If we weren’t so invested in Sonos already or we had to start fresh, we would not go with Sonos.

Updated to crap

Richie Zbras

It was working so so before the update, but now it’s worse. Sonos get your s#%t together. Update: Here it is November 2020 and the app is still buggy to the point that it's not working properly or being recognized. These people need to be fired and replaced by people who actually know what they're doing. Waste of time and money

Location service

Cinsier1

Why do I need to share my location to use my speaker that’s dumb fix it

Don’t update

Gordie Bill

Every other time I install an update the system stops working, and I have to reinstall every speaker... have four speakers and it’s frustrating... bs

Used to be great, now nearly unusable

OriginalWingo

Crashes. Failure to connect over a strong works/fi signal. Unreliable alarms. Nothing about this app is good anymore.

Drops too often

jydvjoos

Too many times we lose speakers, need to reset, find etc. I would not recommend Sonos.

Great product

Dj romee

Love it

Too many upgrades

I love ***

Upgrades constantly destroy our system......stop it. Nothing changes with the fake upgrades. Customer service is NO help when there is an issue because they do not know what the problems are........
