Can't delete events once created? Really?

Professor 80

You can add events to a schedule but you can't subtract. So after spending time creating an entire household schedule if you make one little mistake you're screwed. Live with it or reset the device and start over. Want to tweak a schedule that has already been created, tough crap. Try to work around it by removing all the days of the week, nope it forces you to pick at least one day. Somfy just slap in a delete button and we're set.

Good so far

Auttoman

So far so good. The installation took about 20 minutes and overall it was fairly smooth sailing. That includes pairing the device to the app and setting up Scenes and Schedules A few negatives: As far as I can see, the app does not integrate with IOS widgets for my Apple devices. The icons for the Scenes are pretty childish and nonsensical...like a third grader came up with them (this is a minor offense, I can deal) I did have a moment of frustration when I reset my PIN and my app didn't recognize any of my settings. I closed the app and everything I had done was gone when I reopened it. So I thought I lost everything and proceeded to start over. Part way through the setup process it suddenly recognized me as a returning user and I was able to restore my settings. In conclusion, good product. Generally very easy to set up: plug it in to any wall outlet, pair with both the app and the existing remotes, set up Scenes/Schedules, and you're off to the races. To developers, good job generally but adding to IOS widgets would really help me as I have Lutron lights and I would like all of my basic controls to be a swipe away from my Apple devices.

Nice idea but half baked execution

Phxtallguy

Somfy control is not cheap but should you go in this direction you can only hope the company is committed to excellence. It is my experience that automation, at least with, myLink is an afterthought. What guides my thinking is that I have many apps on my phone that perform amazing tasks. This app is not one of them. It is designed to lift up or down. That's it. You can also stop the motion once started. But for this feature to be useful you must be viewing the device to know when the desired height is achieved that you wish to stop the motion. It is stateless. That is it does not, in any way, make you aware of the device current state, be it up or down or any position in between. Using it from any other location other than in front of the device is not possible because you do not know if the device is up or down. The app does not know either, so it can not share. There is a scheduler, but it seems to have a mind of it own. What is available are hours of the day and sunrise and sunset with a swing of an hour in either direction. My schedule is set to go down at sunrise and rise at sunset. The blinds have yet to achieve this activity successfully. The system does not know what the local time is and runs on it internal clock time, which is different than my local time. Somfy is a French company so I suspect that the sunset or sunrise works perfectly in Cluses, France but not where I live. Also technical support is non-existent. What would be better would be a smart app running on a smart phone or tablet. This is not that app. This app is dumb. To be smart it should go down when the sun is shining on it and go up when is it not. It should allow the user to modify this action as they see fit. I have a Rachio system to maintain my front and back yards irrigation system and it does not water when it is raining. Smart! It most definitely should make you aware of the device state so it can be useful remotely without needed to guess the device's current state. I would not recommend this app but would recommend passing Somfy control to an automation system where total control is possible.

Needs a SERIOUS update

rixt3r862

First and foremost this app and device need to be upgraded to be compatible with Homekit. Second there needs to be way more control with this app. You can only open or close the blinds along with one custom setting. Also the scheduler needs an update. Astronomic times are only available plus or minues one hour. What if I want to schedule something 2 or 3 hours after sunrise... sorry outta luck, you can't do that. For all the money I spent on this system, I really hoped it would be top notch. It is not.

Need a real demo mode

Mauijet

Somfy, if you want dealers to promote the "My Link" hardware and app, you need a real demo mode. There are many customer questions that could be answered that way. Maybe your waiting until the app actually works decently.

Worst device, worst app

cearllee

I'd give this company zero stars if I could. I bought a house with 4 somfy shade units, and they just don't work. The app can't be programmed, because despite however many times I follow the on screen instructions, the app will program the wrong shade. I've had successfully programmed schedules for a few days here and there, but the application will delete programming, and eventually, some of my shades don't respond. The physical units are also horrendous. They lose their programming with the physical remote regularly, then I'm stuck with a completely open shade and no privacy. The company is an absolute nightmare. I'm shocked that they continue to sell products. They make the worst quality products I've ever used.

Ok ish app

777berg

I'm surprised at how little control this app has. It's really basic and has hardly any more features than a old fashion remote. The only bonus is the sunrise sunset feature with offsets. It would be nice as others have stated to close for different outdoor temperatures. Also closing to more than one height/ level. Eg 10% or 60%. For the same shutter. The New version crashes. No real improvements over the old one.

App is VERY sluggish

TKLPersonal

The most recent update was supposed to improve speed and responsiveness of the app, but it is far worse. When editing any programmed schedules for my motorized shades, it takes forever for the app to accept the changes after hitting "Done." The progress wheel just spins and spins and I often have to kill the app and try again. Very poor quality app.

not working on iphone 7

Caution, buyer

theRealMophilly

I purchased the base station and paid for installation, to control one awning and one shade. For the first six months it was fine. I could manage the settings from my iPhone and my ipad. Around June 1, 2017, the app said an update was available and accepted the update. After the update the app did not work. The distributor has been awesome. The sent reps out twice. After three calls to support, Somfy authorized a replacement base station. The distributor sent an installer out immediately and got the awning working but not the shade. That is not acceptable. The support rep at Somfy was very nice. The real problem is the wait. Over three calls to Somfy my average wait time on hold is 35 minutes. Once connected to a support rep another 20 to 30 minutes is required. In retrospect, Somfy management has hamstrung its support team and distributor channel. Bottom line: cool product, but support effectiveness is poor due to limited support staffing and poor response times.
