Sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t.

The app is ok. You are unable to partially open the shades. It’s either open or close. After writing scenes in the app, you are suppose to hit the sync button. Hitting the sync button does not do anything, the just keeps thinking and thinking and never syncs. It’s basically an over priced on and off switch.

This is the worst designed app imaginable.

Works As Advertised

I had some reservations after reading all of the negative reviews. Most of the most recent reviews seemed to be more positive so I took a chance. Happy to say that most of the kinks have been worked out and the product works as advertised. Pros: 1. Fairly standard setup if you have setup a smart device before. If you have not, then your mileage may vary. 2. Fairly small firm factor. You can put it in a fairly inconspicuous place where there is an electrical outlet. It plugs in directly to any standard electrical outlet. 3. For me the distance between the shades and the MyLink is about 20 feet. It is not direct line of site and works fine. 4. Integrates with Amazon Alexa. Cons: 1. Expensive for what it is. 2. Could be a lot easier to configure. I had to futz with it for about 30 minutes to get it working. Involved moving it to different locations until I found one that worked, but once I did it was pretty straightforward from there. I have a mesh network and it works fine. 3. It does work with Alexa, but it is more work than it should be to get it connected and to recognize the specific phrase you want to use. I will try to update review with steps to get this done. 4. Depending on the remote controller you have the directions may or may not be the same as in the written or online instructions on the Somfy web site. MyLink works with various of their remotes, but the details are slightly different depending on the remote you have. Checkout YouTube if you are having problems and make sure the video applies to your remote. I have an older single channel remote which is different than the one in the instructions. However, I got it working fine. 4. The app could use some serious work. It controls the shades fine, but the user interface leaves a lot to be desired. If configured properly you can control your shades remotely or on a schedule. Short form, I am happy with my MyLink and it is working fine. Should be easier to configure and definitely cheaper, but if you want handsfree voice-control over your Somfy-powered motors the MyLink accomplishes the task. Read less

Junk

I have many smart home devices, and setup has been a breeze with all of them. This app is not intuitive. Clunky and doesn’t work. I’ve been using the Somfy remote for years with 4 roller shades. No problems. The app can’t find my devices. So frustrating.

Not a good device

It does not work. The receiver goes offline requiring one to pull out the receiver from the outlet to reset it everyday.

Worst device, worst app

I'd give this company zero stars if I could. I bought a house with 4 somfy shade units, and they just don't work. The app can't be programmed, because despite however many times I follow the on screen instructions, the app will program the wrong shade. I've had successfully programmed schedules for a few days here and there, but the application will delete programming, and eventually, some of my shades don't respond. The physical units are also horrendous. They lose their programming with the physical remote regularly, then I'm stuck with a completely open shade and no privacy. The company is an absolute nightmare. I'm shocked that they continue to sell products. They make the worst quality products I've ever used.

Excellent app!

App works great! Love the Alexa integration!

Great app! But...

Integrates very well with Alexa. I have 6 shades connected that I can raise, lower, or stop with 3 words! Plus I have the scenes embedded in Alexa routines, “Alexa, movie time”... tv on, lights dim, shades down... awesome. BUT, saving my remote programming was tricky. I would go through the steps to program certain shades, save the channel settings, and would NOT get the desired shade to respond. Weird combinations of shades would be linked that I didn’t program together. And since you can’t delete channels, I now have like 8 channels that are useless. I finally did get a channel to accept all 6 shades at once. If I didn’t get that to work, I’d be giving 2 stars. Overall I’m happy. Still confused why programming channels has a mind of its own though.

Shade controls

This app and the shades themselves are terrible to program I wonder if they did any R&D before putting this junk out. My customer spent 100k on this. nothing but problems. Zero support. They just as bad as hunter douglas. Do yourself a favor don’t buy these. We definitely won’t....
