Everything was working fine until the app update. Now my iPhone won’t connect to the sling box anymore. Nice work.

THE REAL NYPR

This new version is horrible. Bring back the virtual remote. There are no instructions to this new version. It will not turn my cable box on by pressing menu.


Can’t change channels

This app is terrible. Cannot change channel if the ch number has double numbers. Entering 1002 gets ch 102. 1112 gets ch 12 etc. Absolutely terrible and no one at Slingbox cares or the app would’ve been fixed a long time ago. Worse part? I have to pay Slingbox for help troubleshooting. Won’t even talk to me unless I pay.


Needs drastic improvements

This app works just fine for watching TV, but needs more improvements for giving the best experience as its description is calming. I got frustrated the instability of Chromecast integration. When I operated a remote (e.g. open menu), Chromecast app crush and went back to the stand-by screen. Also, when I operate a remote on iOS app, it refreshes the screen each time. It’s really annoying and made me frustrated when I was browsing channels. At last, the sound quality of TV streaming is really poor. Low volume sounds (e.g. whisper voice) are often cut and avoid you to focus on TV. As you can easily imagine, it’s extremely frustrating when you are watching music channels. Slingbox streams great musics as a garbage noise. I really wish Slingbox team uses their app by themselves, experience how their users feel and fixes poor qualities of their products as soon as possible.


Poor user experience with updated app

The new-ish apps user interface is really poor. It takes multiple button clicks to get to the control options and every time the iPhone goes to sleep when the app is restarted you need to reconnect. This is especially frustrating when watching DVR’d content you want to fast forward through. The old app did not have these issues, big step backwards.

How a company treats existing customers speaks volumes. I’ve had my sling box for a number of years but now, they’ve forced me to purchase the new app while they’ve eliminated the ability to control my cable box. This was the basics of why I had the sling box, I’m sure it’s the same for most of their customers. In my opinion, ignoring these customers sends a message to new customers about what they can expect.

I’ve had a sling box for a few years and though using the remote is slow, it’s still reliable. Unlike my cable provider app which blocks a lot of programming once I’m away from home, sling has never failed to deliver. I wish they still made the boxes because they work great.


New Feature: Must Log On Regularly. Arg!

I hate this. Can’t cut and paste in the values. Shortcut keyboard options are disable for the fields. It is now slow to start up. Can’t stand it. May switch to the basic app just to avoid this burden. New interface looks nice.


Great app but disappointing

This needs to have the Comcast update! I have an iPhone 10 but DO NIT have the option to view my iPhone to my bigger smart tv through Comcast! It’s time to make that happen!!

We use it to view our cable at our Lakehouse. It still has a few bugs, but we're happy. ALSO, would love for you to develop an app specifically for APPLE TV. That would make watching TV so much more convenient.
