So frustrated. I pay for Slate Plus membership just so I can listen to certain podcasts like Flashback. For past month the app continually drops the episode while I’m listening. I’ve contacted Slate twice. Their responses are not helpful. The steps they say to take don’t work. They are being slippery and dishonest about their crappy app and charging iPhone users an annual fee when they know they can’t fix it. There’s no way I will keep a more expensive membership next year under these conditions.

podcasts take a while to load. podcast episodes cut off at a certain date and i need to use spotify if i want to listen to older ones. understandable considering budget and all - just a heads up

I love Slate and this app is fine overall, but there’s no way to increase the minuscule font size in the comments areas.

Get rid of the in app pop ups

I hate that Slate “suggests” (read: forces) articles on users. I am a paid subscriber, why do I have to open these suggestions? There’s no way to clear them without opening them. I just want to read what I want to read without Slate padding their click rate numbers by opening articles I have no interest in for me when I am actually trying to access something that DID catch my eye

Despite emails to their customer service team detailing the app’s instability (crashes without fail 2 minutes into any podcast) and other issues, and prompt responses reassuring me they’re looking into it, two months later the same problems exist. I believe wholeheartedly in paying for great work, and want to continue supporting it here, but unfortunately I will be canceling my subscription because I don’t get what I pay for (and haven’t for going on 5 months)!

I am a great admirer of and subscriber to Slate’s journalism. But it’s app on the iPad, is incredibly poorly designed. Formatting the page into a block structure is not only aesthetically unappealing but results in incoherence: many of the article headlines are truncated and therefore make no sense. I have removed the app and created a link to the website which, to me, is an infinitely better viewing experience. The iPhone app/layout is far better.

Well-written and well-researched, topically relevant articles. Best editorial writing, and always enjoy the features and investigative reporting. I could spend many hours listening to the podcasts. All well done. Worth more than the subscription for Slate +. I wouldn’t be without my failing fix of Slate reading.

Wondering why I can’t get into Slate Plus

I believe I paid to become a member of Slate Plud some time ago. I get a lot of things from Slate via email, but it seems that whenever I start an article it stops midway through and says I have to join or sign in to read the whole thing. I thought I had the sign-in set up on my phone, but it doesn’t seem to work. I like Slate but find this very tedious.

As a conservative I like to read both sides of the political debate but Slate makes it hard. The writer’s hate for conservatives is palpable.
