iOS app terrible

The Slate app on my iPad hasn’t updated in almost 2 days. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled twice and rebooted my iPad twice. This isn’t the first time this has happened. Also, when it is working, it regularly crashes. And as others have said, you can’t view embedded media in an article, which makes it pretty useless. I really like Slate’s content, but you need to fix this app!

When typing a single character into the search box, I’m thrown into a black screen labeled “search results.” I ‘m on a free trial of Slate Plus but I probably will delete if I can’t search and find specific podcasts.

Why is the app so consistently bad?

Update 1/15/2020: app was crashing so I updated. Still can’t read the articles I want. How will I find out if the stepparent has a right to call herself Grandma! I’m on an iPhone X with up to date iOS. There is no reason this app should keep crashing all the time. So frustrated. Update: still bad! How is it possible that the app is released over and over again with bugs. I’m trying to read an article and about 10 seconds after I start, the app crashes. Over and over again. This is not unusual at all. Why is this so hard for you? Other news and magazine apps do not act this way. Why is the Slate app so consistently bad? I enjoy the content when I can get to it. It crashes constantly. The videos don’t play. The links don’t work. When links refer to another Slate article, the link doesn’t just open the article in the app, but instead opens this sort of browser window within the app. It’s strange. Update after update I hope these issues will be fixed and they never are.
Podcast drops out

The podcasts take forever to load and start then they just stop every 5 minutes or so and have to be RE-started. This is not a connection problem as I am using wify

I’ve never done a review of anything. Not a fan of the constant review culture we live in. But I feel compelled now because of problems identified by other users. I absolutely love Slate content. It use to be the highlight of my week to listen to the Political and Cultural podcast. Now I oftentimes skip trying because of constant problems with playback through the App. Essentially it is useless. I hear 10 minutes and then it just shuts off. I’ve tried to listen through other podcast apps but the process of accessing my slate plus membership content is complex and cumbersome. In this day and age it is not clear to me why this has not be fixed yet.
