I can not open anything that I am interested in. About ten things are available at any time, and when I search for more, I get a blank screen.

Many podcasts to enjoy except that they keep crashing

I’m tired of having to restart the members only podcasts as their app crashes sometimes as frequently as every 5 minutes....

Great content! App less so

The app is hard to use. Searching is awkward. I prefer to look at the content on the website. I keep the app around for the notifications.

After multiple attempts to contact Slate support, I am throwing in the towel and canceling my subscription. I can no longer access podcasts through my app without show cutting out every few minutes. I truly love the content but am done with the frustration of trying to access it. I end up going through general podcast anyway. I understand budgets are tight, but you need someone to provide technical support to your customers.

Podcast player problems persist

I love the content but ever since I upgraded to an XR, the podcast player through the app, which gets me slate plus, stops every 4 minutes and I have to keep tapping the screen and restarting the podcast. Makes it impossible to enjoy listening. I’ve raised this with Slate support but no fix in over 3 months.

The Worst Interface

The comment feature on the app is a nightmare. Don’t bother trying to use your phone’s browser either, because the commenting feature also doesn’t work on there. Not to mention the comments are moderated by your meanest 7th grade teacher. Overall, yuck.

Content and app now equally poor quality

The content of Slate has markedly deteriorated over the past 3-4 years, but the performance of the app has always been surprisingly poor, at least on iOS.

Search freezes the app.

I love Slate and I’m a member, but this app drives me crazy. Every time I try to use the search function, it freezes. I get stuck in the search results and unable to view anything else. Each time I have to delete the app and reinstall it. It’s so annoying— just fix it!

Not ad free

I purchased slate+ and got the app thinking I could finally read articles without worrying about popups... nope... it’s not ad free and it’s no better than heading to your favorite browser and reading the articles there. Sorry excuse for an app and false advertising.
