Power View ease of use 10/10

Outstanding app! Well designed. I had 6 shades to enter into the program and it took under 10 minutes to enter and setup scenes. Love it!

App no longer works

After the update a week ago, my app says it is no longer connected to the hub. Wondering what the update did to cause this. Same WiFi network and didn’t touch the hub.

We had HD shades installed throughout the house 2 years ago and it has been nothing less than a disaster. When creating scenes, some shades do respond to the app, others don’t. Some open or close partially. We spend most of our time jogging, calbrating, deleting and discovering. By now I mainly use the manual instead of the app and we still have shades that are not responding, which means the app may be fine but the installation is completely messed up.

Easy App

The set up is easy, the settings to my needs were easy and I love waking up to the automatically opened shades. Highly recommend.

PowerView + HomeKit Disaster

Edterpening

The PowerView app worked fine until I added HomeKit. What a disaster. I’ve had 4 blinds completely fail. Not even responsive to the “Pebble” Hunter Douglas remote. HD customer service couldn’t resolve over the phone, so two weeks later (with my blinds stuck shut), a repairman comes out and it took him well over an hour to fix the blind. He couldn’t get it to reset, and he installs HD blinds for a living. I’m really disappointed. I was so looking forward to Siri integration, and this experience has really diminished my view of Hunter Douglas as a supposed premium brand.

Love the automation

Just easy to use. Love that I can set my window coverings to open and close automatically. Quality product. I feel like I have finally grown up. My windows look upscale instead of a college dorm or apartment with Faux Blinds

Hunter powerview motorization

As a blind installer I would give the hunter douglas powerview motorization systems a 5 out of 5 star rating the best most user friendly system on the market in my opinion. Also would like to add they have a amazing support team if you have any issues. YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET

Troubles all the way around

This is the most unused friendly app ever!! I’ve had the local installers out here three times to help reprogram the hub so it will actually work. At least once a week one or more of my blinds won’t go up and I have to manually do it or prompt the app. And since the last set up one of my remotes doesn’t work. Quite a bit of headache for $8000 dollar blinds. Even the local installer said the app was a pain and seeing as a lot of their clients are older it seemed very hard on a less tech savvy client base. Not really happy with the hub. Feel like i wasted money on it.

Great app, despite occasional inconsistencies

I have had 11 Hunter-Douglas PowerView shades for the past 4 months, and added a 12th just last week. I’m an app developer, and I’ve been impressed with everything Hunter-Douglas got right: the UI is especially intuitive, and for the most part, the app and especially the shades have been rock-solid reliable. However — there’s a continuing issue with the app occasionally not setting the scene data in the hub correctly. It appears as if the scene data can somehow get corrupted between creating/modifying a scene, and then transmitting that scene data to be stored in the hub. This issue was verified when Hunter-Douglas’ superb support technician guided me to slightly change the scene data, causing it to be written out to the hub again. That solved my problem. As an app developer it appears to be an initialization or corruption issue, which could be tracked down by embedding more data validation into the app. I might suggest the data be checksummed and the checksum be stored both in the app and on the hub. That way, any degradation of data could be automatically detected and perhaps the issue could be found and corrected. All that said, the above issue is mostly a temporary frustration: the product has been a pleasure to work with, and now that HomeKit is supported, I can ask Siri to invoke any scene.
