Hunter Douglass is the worst
brucedeen

It rarely ever works. I constantly have to reset the blinds for the blinds that aren’t up on my super high vaulted ceilings. And there is no upgrade path except to redo the entire thing.

Terrible app

This app needs major improvements.

Does not work

Disappointed that Hunter Douglas has abandoned its customers that have paid thousands of dollars for blinds. The app no longer works with my shades and they have discontinued this line. Please update the app! The bridge blinks red and green looking to pair with the app and nothing happens.

Adequate

It works, but barely. Crashes sometimes and is a bit weird to use. The good news is that powered shades are so freaking cool that it's worth it. I wish HD would spend a little cash to have this app reworked.

Betrayed

App is terrible. Stopped supporting it when they came out with a new system. Shame on them.

Finally updated
Raedances

Imagine my surprise when I opened the app yesterday to discover that it just...worked. No flipping back and forth between screens, no ritualized quit, reopen, quit, reopen cycle...the app just performed the one, singular function it was designed to do, without angst or drama. Obviously I went to check the version history, and lo and behold - the first update in 2 years. Kudos to whoever fought to get this piece of garbage app actually updated - it’s obviously not a priority of Hunter Douglas’, so to whoever finally fixed it, and whoever made that happen? Your work is vastly appreciated, and you deserve 5 stars. Thank you, mysterious dev team. THAT SAID, “working” is a low, low bar to clear, and Hunter Douglas has completely abandoned a big segment of their user base. A big company should be able to do much better than one update in two years, which means that you saw the one-star ratings and complaints, and just chose to let this one ride for two years. Can’t wait to eventually escape your ecosystem, but in the meantime, I’ll just keep making sure nobody else I know buys in.

Fixed some issues
GR SLP

I’m glad the Platinum App has been updated. It was previously losing the Wi-Fi connection. This was a big issue as the shades would not follow the schedule which could not be fixed until I returned from a vacation. Please keep supporting this App.

Good app

Good app

Garbage

The app is unfriendly, non-intuitive, incomplete and lacks a decent GUI. The shades work intermittently and Hunter Douglas has been unable to fix them. Have had hardware replaced multiple times. Use of proprietary technology means they only work with (the as yet to work consistently) Hunter Douglas app. Works fine from Hub but inconsistently from repeaters. The app includes "remote access" from main screen but this has not been implemented yet and does not work. So why is it there? This has lots of promise but after several years has failed to deliver.

Good but really needs work

Update 3: 2.0.9 10/8/3014. Initial reaction - 7 months for an update and this is what you provide customers who have spent thousands of dollars on blinds? Seriously. I have marked the 1 item they fixed in my previous review. They have also taken the ability to set the time before/after sunrise/sunset from 90 min to 60 minutes. Adding ability to reset long / lat is nice but if you are using a smart phone you should not have to enter this. Hunter Douglas needs to hire some UI designers and put more money into improving the app and repeaters. Update 2: no update since March 3, 14 - to me this seems to point to a lack of dedication of fixing bugs with the app. See below. If you are considering purchasing shades that can be controlled from a smart phone - you might want to consider another brand. It is not just the app - the main controller needs improvements as well. Update 1: lowered rating. For the price of the product Hunter Douglas needs to get this app working. They might have great blinds but the app is dollar store quality. Very unfortunate. This app can be frustrating to use when you have many blinds. * fixed with version 2.0.9 * - The app rarely shows the blinds in the current position or at the position they are programmed to. I have 7 Duette PowerRise Top-Down/Bottom-Up blinds. For example if I program the bedroom blinds to close at 10 and then I go back to view the program the round white button for the bottom rail is at the top by the word open. There is a solid blue line for that entire side. For the middle rail, the round white button appears in the middle with a blue line extending from the word close at the top to the middle line. This does not make sense. It seems like the screen resets itself. The program works correctly but the screen does not. Also if you have the intermediate setting turned "on" on the iphone app, if you open the app on the iPad it shows the intermediate setting as "off". And what is the purpose of the brightness selector in the settings screen?
