It Ain’t Broke - Let’s Fix It?

bluedrag0neyes

Why redesign an app to not work as well? I can no longer navigate to the part of the issue I was reading, only the first “page” of the article. The app frequently freezes when asked to move from all issues to downloaded. It’s harder to navigate AND less useful to return to. Why?!

App - magazine not so good now

Backroad Rider

The newest version of the app is buggy, for example the contest cartoon seldom loads. Unlike most other tablet publishers The New Yorker version had the same layout and content as the print version but with the added bonus of embedded audio and video. Now the “emag.” has the table of contents hidden in a menu icon and over-sized illustrations heading articles. Also there is less content. Apparently we are supposed to go to TNY website for more articles. From one of the best magazine apps, the TNY has one that is average at best.

My review of the New Yorker magazine

new yorker bad news

I used to enjoy reading the magazine but I feel that the quality of the fiction section content has declined. When the fiction is good however, which seems to be about fifty per cent of the top time, it is very good. I would like to see a lot more and better short fiction stories. I also think that the poetry is not very good. I tried to read it for a long time but now just skip it. The poems don’t seem to have much beauty or emotion and are kind of boring to me. Sorry to be harsh but that is the impression I have. Thank you John Burns Plus, why do I have to give myself a nickname just to send you a review? Don’t you think that is a little ridiculous?

Where is the Table of Contents?

WhiskeyBravoVictor

How can there possibly be no Table of Contents!? And, as others have said, it’s incredible that the app doesn’t save your place in an

I paid! Treats me like I haven’t.

I’m a repeat subscriber. I paid for another year 2 months ago. Every time I login there’s an icon in the corner that says “renew.” It used to actually view me as a subscriber. And I also used to be taken to the app- NEVER now- not once since renewal. Why even have an app? The advantage should be that you don’t have to continually login. Online “customer service” has constant error messages. I’m ditching it & getting a refund.

Klutzy, Awkward to Navigate

Maybe I’ve been spoiled by newspaper apps, but you can’t search old stories unless you know specifically what issue they’re in.

OK for phone, not suited for iPad

Also, why must old issues clutter up either phone or tablet once they’ve been read? Anything can be downloaded again if it is wanted.
