For full subscribers to the New Yorker magazine, this app is amazing. Am loving the portability of each issue, with the bonus of having full access to related media. Brava!!
Review for the app not the magazine

Once the issue is downloaded it is a fantastic app. It gives the same feeling (except for the touch) as reading the paper magazine. But downloading is a pain, so much so that I am considering canceling the app and going back to the paper version. You have to keep the New Yorker app open and not touch, fidget, or get curious, just wait, until download is complete. Why can’t the latest issue downloads at night, without me prompting it, and I wake up to a brand new issue to read while having my breakfast. The biggest pain is when I have a few issues to download - i can’t.

This is not a review about the quality of The New Yorker; these comments reflect the technical flaws associated with the NY App only. App consistently fails to complete linking a current subscription to the the mobile app.
Buggy, and awkward UI

Five-star content, one-star app. It too often requires deleting the app and reinstalling. Even when it’s working the interface is really awkward. The navigation buttons are not intuitive, and the options for display are very limited.
Horrible — don’t waste your time.

Nearly impossible to create an account. Can’t change password. Every step is fiddly, poorly designed, and hard to use. The magazine is great but the app is worthless.

I use the New Yorker app frequently and find that it is by FAR the best designed app for magazines that I have seen. I recall that it took a little extra effort to learn It but this is well worth the effort because I use it several times per week. I am very surprised to see some negative reviews about the design and I suspect that this is because the design is innovative and does take a little getting used to. I encourage everyone to stick with it. Thanks to the New Yorker app design staff!

Just purchased and i cant open the current issue, cant sign in and cant go to my account

This app is useless. I'm signed in and it tells me to enjoy reading the magazine. The. It wants to charge me per issue. Remember, I'm signed in to my account. Then I try to "Link to my account" using the info on the label of this weeks issue and it returns the message that it can't find my subscription. USELESS!
