Upsetting

ItslianCook

I went away for two weeks and had set a schedule for 65 degrees constantly while i was away and checked the temperature and it had reverted to an “away” status and shut the heat off entirely for 9 days lowering the temp to a dangerous 47 degrees. I have no idea if I have pipe breaks as a result.

Thermostats won’t connect

Sims1231

The nest thermostat won’t connect so it is pointless. Been on the phone with google support multiple times to no avail and tried new equipment. Pointless app.

Crashes all the time

rndoliveira

It crashes several time and log me out. Then I have to log back in and it loses my home/away configuration. This is really annoying. Also, I have it set up to use my phone and my wife’s phone for the location services, but the following already happened several times: I leave home and my wife stays and at some point she realizes it went on away mode with she at home. It used to work better before Google taking over.

Works well

I’m enjoying nest. The system works very well! I love the app which makes it easier to control the air conditioning system!

Ughhhh

Stop making me do two factor authentication just to change the temperature. I don’t want to factor authentication. I don’t want to have to wait for an email… Yes an email not even a text… With a code just to change the thermostat. It’s not like I have any cameras. Seriously… Why? I mean I get it. Security and all that. But is the system that flyer that we absolutely need two factor authentication? But why do I need to factor authentication if I just change the temperature. I can’t do anything else. OK maybe I can turn my heat off or something but who cares? It should be my choice. If I had cameras installed, then I would use two factor authentication while still being annoyed that it must be via an email. Get it? It’s just a thermostat. It’s only a thermostat. If a hacker wants to turn my house fan on or bump the heat up for me in the morning, so be it. But it’s not like the temperature is going to fall inside the house and kill me in the time it takes me to notice if someone is changing it without permission.

Away mode

away mde

Keeps automatically switching to “away” mode even after 2 years of use. Too automated.

Application crashes

rajamad

Application crashes when scrolling through history. This started after recent iOS update.

Scheduling and temperature inaccuracies

This thermostat being in the wall away from the heaters tends to heat the room for an average of 7 degrees higher than what was set for. It takes some time to learn how it works. Constant manual adjustments. ECOBEE has remote sensors and much, much easier to work with and is dependable. Nest has the looks only.
