Can’t even get passed first step

I bought my LG UHD TV AI ThinQ (65UM73) yesterday. I wanted to use this app as a remote, but it’s can’t even seem to find my TV despite it being connected to the same network as my phone. Services like HomeKit and airplay are not working either. I don’t know why they advertise the compatibility if it doesn’t even work. Very disappointed.
Misuse of Location Permission

DO NOT USE THIS APP! There is no clear reason to require location permission for turning on one’s TV. I am a software developer also and you should only ask for it at runtime when you absolutely need it, not for the sake of tracking people. Complete misuse of iOS permissions. Turning on/off a TV, controlling volume, changing channels, and those typical tasks has nothing to do with location permissions. You should be ashamed of yourselves LG! Poor form.
Will not connect. Deleting it.

I lost my remote control

How can i use this app if i lost my remote control!!! So this app not useful because asked me to connect my wifi to TV. First let me know how to connect LG smart tv with wifi without remote control then ask me to use your app.

The app used to work - not consistently but, it did work. It had smooth operation, functions and connecting were easy to use... and then? I don’t know what happened here. It no longer connects or finds my tv like it used to. Nothing has changed on my end - I’ve been using the mesh wi-Fi for 2 years now, I’ve reset my router... I’ve followed all of the developer instructions to other users so far with only failure. Until it’s fixed, there’s no reason to DL this app. Oh, in case anyone is wondering - I have tried on multiple devices with the same failure (no tv found).

The app keeps asking for location permission. If you choose no, it does not work.

If you disable the LG TV app's access to your location information, the app will not even start. It displays a pop up saying you need to give it access to your location in order to use it. Why would it need to know my latitude and longitude just to change the channel? One star. This is inappropriate use of iOS permissions.

The app is still requiring access to GPS location. No reason is given or way to work around the issue. As far as I can tell there is NO reason for this but overreach of LG.
GPS and Reconnect

The app requires GPS that drained the battery of your device. The app also disconnect frequently and you must reconnect it.
