This is not a money manager.

I’d like to start off by saying Joy is a nice app and I love the interface. You are assigned an interactive bot that interacts and guides you through the app. If your looking for an app just to save money this will be good enough but if you need to see detailed balances, areas where you can save etc this is not the app for you. Also I don’t like that it asks me if I like a purchase or not it’s confusing. Ofcourse I don’t like my rent payment but it’s good because I need so that’s conflicting. I think there should be more options then happy or unhappy.

I was so happy to get started with the app and it turns out they don’t even have my bank.

Needs Additional Banks

It would be unfair to rate this for I haven't really gotten into the app but I will give it a 3 to be fair. But if the developers could add Alaska USA to their lists of banks it would help tremendously. I have no other bank at the moment but with them. I would really love to use your app to help with me saving and spending. If you guys could do that, it would be awesome! Thanks

You have to be American?

It looks like a pretty nice app that would be very useful for me; but the first thing they ask when I sign up is for my phone number.. preset to be an American phone number.. I can’t seem to put in my actual phone number and can’t sign up with email.. it’s a shame you limit your users to only USA

Error message

I was really excited to start using this app after reading all the reviews & what the app entailed. I answered all the question and was assigned my personal bot. When I go to add my bank account I keep getting an error message. I’ve tried several times & is still getting the same error. I even double checked to make sure I wasn’t entering the wrong password but that wasn’t it. Very disappointed that I couldn’t start using the app because of this.

Confusing/arbitrary

This app is pretty confusing, I think because there are certain questions they don’t want you asking. 1) I’ve found impossible to find out the interest rate on Joy Savings; I’ve looked hard on the app. If I had to guess, it might be because it’s 0. They might not want to publish that. 2) When I started in mid March, it asked me to rate 30 purchases..from August. No idea why that makes sense; not sure why it won’t let me rate more recent purchases to give more updated information. You also just can’t remember from that far back. The app really boxes you in. It’s an awesome idea but I kind of feel like the developers thought people are really fiscally irresponsible-which is true-and can’t be trusted to make their own decisions..for me, the feel is that it groups users into buckets (those bot advisors), but it doesn’t see the individuality within users within each group. I understand the thought is that we rate all our purchases individually but that’s clearly not enough.

Sad face

Won’t sync after several tries and quitting and restarting. The “chat” option for help just means you send an unanswered text.

Leaving is a hassle

The Joy app turned out to not work for my style of finance handling. Note that in order to unlink your bank account, you have to email them to request it. So I did, they said it would be done in two days. Four days later, it’s still in there. I’m not real comfortable with any of that, and regret using this app.

Joy > All other money apps

That's all you need to know.

I have never written a review before but I have to for this app

OH MY GOODNESS. I got the link in my email that the app was available, and I had forgotten what it was. I must have signed up at some point on Instagram - I am 22, and work in FinTech, graphic design for a financial management software company. I recently got on a kick and downloaded all kinds of robe-advisor apps, money management apps, savings apps (Qapital, I use Mint, Betterment, Chloe, Wealthsimple) just trying to track my finances. THIS IS THE MOST FUN AND MOST FUNCTIONAL that i have come across. Its AMAZING. IT IS SO FUN. I know this is weird but I have had it for 30 mins and I just think they're doing everything right. I can't wait until this takes off, Joy really hit the nail on the head with how my generation wants to understand savings and budgeting.
