Great App!

jimdrum66

My coach first recommended iSmoothRun to me because it integrates well with Training Peaks. I have continued using it because I love the ability to program my runs, and the accelerometer when the GPS doesn’t have signal (in tunnels, sometimes really deep forest trails with lots of cliffs, skyscrapers, etc.). I enjoy the data I can see as well. Programming shoes and keeping track of the miles is also invaluable to me. Keep working out the bugs. Thanks for the great app!

Don’t plan to replace Nike watch app with this

Robg2251

I used this app for a week and am not loving it. I bought this hoping to replace the glitchy Apple Watch Nike app. It’s looking like I’ll be switching back to the Nike app very soon. Here’s what I found wrong: 1. You have to initiate a run using your phone. Ugh. I’m a former Garmin user. I don’t want to rely on my phone to run. This is really taking a step back for me. I like to step outside, hit a button on my watch and go running. You then have to stop the run with your phone, if you remember to. 2. First few runs, the GPS was about a tenth of a mile off. It seemed to improve the next few days, so who knows. I was also getting “pausing run” alerts as I was running full speed. I haven’t had that since. 3. Notifications: I noticed with iSmoothRun. Notifications that pop up as you run (an email or a text) stay put on the display. You have to physically dismiss them. The Nike app automatically removes notifications after a few seconds. This gets annoying if you get a lot of notifications (having to dismiss each one manually). 4. Run display takes a second to catch up: I’ll look down at my watch and when it comes to life, it shows the time of the last I checked it, then a second later, the new time displays. It’s annoying and surprises me every time I look at it, thinking initially it’s not working. 5. Exporting to my Nike Run Club app worked a couple of days, the rest of the days It gave me an export error. I did find that I can go back and export it again. 6. What’s up with the 7,017 notifications the red icon shows on the phone app button? I can’t for the life of me figure out what these are supposed to mean, but man they are annoying. 7. Apparently this app can do interval training, which would be a huge bonus, if you can figure out how to set it up. I tried and will try again someday, if I don’t abandon this app all together. The app does provide a lot of statistics of your run, and does heart rate monitoring as you run. Otherwise, I felt like I paid $5 for an outdated app. I was really hoping they’d have dialed in the watch aspect of the application.. as far as I can see, the watch is just a secondary tool for this phone app.

Can’t add description

I no longer can update the description. The keyboard covers the description field - please fix

Just wonderful

Thanks for keeping in the pebble watch support!

I’m liking it

Workout editor can be much better. The current one is cumbersome. Speaking of things that would make this better, how about the possibility to end an interval manually? Tapping on phone or watch? I would like not to hard code time or distance of the warmup/cooldown intervals but rather end them when I am done.

Worth every penny!

The level of customization in this app is amazing. The integration with my Apple Watch is flawless. This is the only running app I use now! Update: HR connectivity is a little slow on startup, but kicks in within 30 seconds. This is easily the best running app! Keep up the great work!

Best tracking app

I have tried dozens of apps. This one is the most accurate and seamlessly exports to multiple times external sources.

Awesome and getting even better!

Edit 2: iSmoothRun’s support is great. When I updated to iOS 11, I forgot to update my watch, and lost my iSmoothRun watch app. Their support patiently helped me out (remember to update the watch with the phone :) Edit: I've now used this app for at least 6 years. It is my go-to app for events and love the Apple Watch integration. One key trick (for me) is to start and stop the event on the watch (for a long time I tried to start on the phone and ended up having two events go off when I switched to the watch). I happily recommend iSmoothRun to all my friends. I just finished the Hershey Half Marathon with iSmoothRun, and it was wonderful! For a little background, I have run halves and fills for 4 years, and have tried RunMeter (a nice second place to iSmoothRun), RunTracker, Kinetic, and MapMyRun+. iSmoothRun is clearly developed by runners who saw what was missing, added those features, and topped it off with some nice polish. For events in cities, sky scrapers totally mess up the GPS, so the combination of GPS with accelerometer is brilliant (the accelerometer kicks in when GPS is lost). Counting step rate allowed me to keep my rate much more consistent at mile 11-13. Auto-pause after 10 seconds works very well (I am very slow pressing stop on my arm after a half). I hope this app takes off for a very selfish reason: I can't wait to see what other features they pack into this thing. Right now, you need to turn on the metronome after you start the run, which is my only complaint. And yes, I have absolutely no affiliation with them (I do computer development for a small DC firm).

No more Garmin

I run about 15 mile per week. I'm not trying to win 5Ks anymore so I've put away the Garmin and use this App paired with my Apple Watch. When I get serious about getting back onto the podium, I'll probably dust off the Garmin again.

Good App

I have been using this app for years to train for many marathons and 1/2 marathons. Only complaint is that the GPS tracking is slightly off. Satellite seems to ping too often resulting in miles accruing faster than having run them. Often end up with 20 mile runs when I have only run a little over 19. Shorter runs seem to stay on track a little better.
