Works well

Biggest differentiator: easy access and export of my data.

Favorite running app

Dr2008

I've been using map my run for years. Over the past few years he features have become more restricted (unless you pay for an endless subscription) and advertisements have become more pervasive. I've started running intervals to up my speed but I had a terrible time finding an app that used the GPS to determine interval pace. When I found this app I was very skeptical. There is a nice video on YouTube that reviews the app and some of the best features. I've really come to like the ability to race my best time on my previous routes. I also export my data to other apps so I don't feel like I'm severing all connections with my past or I'm permanently tied to this company if down the roads they get bought out and they become just like map my run. The company seems to constantly be improving this app. With that in mind here are a couple of wish list items: I wish they offered a different way to break out the splits in the workout log. Right now the splits are 1 mile. However, 1 min splits are helpful for finding your lactate threshold. I wish they allowed more than 5 heart rate zones. For some training it's important to break up zone 4 (some papers call it 4a, 4b, and 4c) to better target a training ride (cycling) hear rate. I would recommend this app to anyone who is a numbers geek when it comes to running.

Works so well with Pebble!

You don't own a Pebble Watch until you own this app along with it. This is the best app I've used for running and it works amazing with the dedicated Pebble app! I'll never go for a run without it again.

Horrible App if you want music

If you listen to music or podcasts while running, etc, AVOID this app. I have used RunKeeper for years and this app will import your data to RunKeeper, however it's very frustrating that it won't play music through my headphones. I did get the music to play once, but it kept cutting out. I can't find any support for this app to ask if I am doing anything wrong.

Almost perfect

Andrew from Philadelphia

I don't need to thoroughly explain why this is one of the best running apps because others have already done so (compatibility, one-time purchase with no ads/nags, customization). My qualms are few: first, the interface could use some tweaking. The design theme is decent but there are some sections that seem organized poorly or have overflowing font (e.g. some of the choices on the interface customization page). Secondly, and this is a bigger one: I couldn't get the automatic metronome to work for when cadence drops below a certain number. Hopefully some fixes are issued soon. Otherwise, great app. It's hard to find apps nowadays that aren't pushing for more money and subscriptions (I'm looking at you, Runkeeper "Pro"...)

Great App!!

Recently switched over from disastrous nike update. This app is great. Love the interval programming options and the metronome. Keep it simple and smart!!

Export no longer working?

Slinmn

As of May 1, I can no longer export to FB... Love the app but that export leads to awesome support from friends and I'm missing that, especially now that I'm training for races.

Best running app (esp for Pebble users!)

ElectronicBacon

This app is awesome. Worth every cent. I use it daily. Get it! I was trying out all the Pebble compatible running apps on iOS and was frustrated at the lack of customization of what is displayed on the Pebble screen during a run. iSmoothRun is a great running app besides the great Pebble support. It supports lots of other running hardware. I use a BT Polar HRM around my chest. You're able to export to many different running apps all at once and it doesn't require a yearly fee to unlock any of its features. One upfront cost and you get everything.
