Don’t plan to replace Nike watch app with this – iSmoothRun Review

I used this app for a week and am not loving it. I bought this hoping to replace the glitchy Apple Watch Nike app. It’s looking like I’ll be switching back to the Nike app very soon. Here’s what I found wrong: 1. You have to initiate a run using your phone. Ugh. I’m a former Garmin user. I don’t want to rely on my phone to run. This is really taking a step back for me. I like to step outside, hit a button on my watch and go running. You then have to stop the run with your phone, if you remember to. 2. First few runs, the GPS was about a tenth of a mile off. It seemed to improve the next few days, so who knows. I was also getting “pausing run” alerts as I was running full speed. I haven’t had that since. 3. Notifications: I noticed with iSmoothRun. Notifications that pop up as you run (an email or a text) stay put on the display. You have to physically dismiss them. The Nike app automatically removes notifications after a few seconds. This gets annoying if you get a lot of notifications (having to dismiss each one manually). 4. Run display takes a second to catch up: I’ll look down at my watch and when it comes to life, it shows the time of the last I checked it, then a second later, the new time displays. It’s annoying and surprises me every time I look at it, thinking initially it’s not working. 5. Exporting to my Nike Run Club app worked a couple of days, the rest of the days It gave me an export error. I did find that I can go back and export it again. 6. What’s up with the 7,017 notifications the red icon shows on the phone app button? I can’t for the life of me figure out what these are supposed to mean, but man they are annoying. 7. Apparently this app can do interval training, which would be a huge bonus, if you can figure out how to set it up. I tried and will try again someday, if I don’t abandon this app all together. The app does provide a lot of statistics of your run, and does heart rate monitoring as you run. Otherwise, I felt like I paid $5 for an outdated app. I was really hoping they’d have dialed in the watch aspect of the application.. as far as I can see, the watch is just a secondary tool for this phone app.
