Broken interface

I tried to set up a button using three different iOS devices and it did not work. I had to use an old Android phone instead. Once you get things paired the app does technically work, but often it shows my lights in an incorrect state. When you set a timer it does work, but in the app it looks like no timer is set.

Doesn't work, literally at all-RUN!!!!!!!!

redcantelope

I've been trying for two days and I can't get a single thing connected to the hub. I've followed all of the instructions, reset each component multiple times and nothing works. You can’t even get into the app to check on the gateway firmware until you’ve connected a remote... which may be impossible until a firmware update has completed. Day three, got a dimmer connected and it managed to update the dimmer overnight. Before AND now after, still unable to pair a light to said remote. Unable to get both a remote and a dimmer connected to the gateway at the same time.

Works... Every once in a while...

So when this thing actually works it's pretty cool. But 90% of the time it can't connect to the internet and telling Alexa to turn the lights on or off is always a gamble. Thankfully the remote always works... Unfortunately I didn't buy them for the remote... If they could resolve the connection issues it would be amazing. The products themselves are actually really well made.

HORRIBLE DO NOT BUY

Does not pair. App doesn’t work. And when you need help, it wants me to call my local IKEA. Not happening. I’m taking this back immediately. What a disappointment.

Don’t buy ikea bulbs app doesn’t work without a steering device

thedannymullen

I am outrageously upset. I am planning on returning all my TRÅDFRI equipment as it was not clear in the store that a steering device is required. The box denotes that the gateway works with the bulbs and clearly the bulbs work with a gateway. Why does one need a steering device. I am very disappointed as the ikea hardware and light il output seems solid and robust. But the app on the other hand would not control my bulbs without a steering device? Not having the app defeats the purpose of the smart bulbs. Love to chat with an ikea rep!

Won't connect to Amazon Alexa.

Craig

The lights work fine, the gateway is good to go, Apple homekit setup was easy ...just can't get this to connect to Amazon Alexa. Enabled the skill on the Alexa App, but when I go to the ikea app to enable it continually times out and says "Problem connecting to Amazon. Please try again" I've been trying to connect for the past two weeks. I've disconnected everything. Uninstalled the apps. Tried connecting at different times, and still nothing. Really getting frustrated. Update: Did the recommended steps that you suggested: I cleared gateway settings. Then set it up again, but it wouldn't update to latest version, it keeps saying up to date with version 1.2.42. So I deleted the settings again, unplugged the gateway for 10 minutes, deleted and reinstalled the app and then setup the gateway again...still the same, says all updated and version 1.2.42, even after checking for updates in the app (I checked multiple times in both scenarios). Is there a way to force update?

Garbage is an understatement

disgruntled123

This is by far the worst product IKEA has ever released and this app, both the iOS and Android version are also garbage. IKEA is aware of bugs that exist in the app that keep users from setting these garbage products up in the first place. Absolutely nothing works consistently. IKEA should be ashamed. These garbage TRÅDFRI products aren’t even in beta stage yet.

Lose settings, A lot of opportunites

Major concept flaw is that timer toggle between on/off.... and that the light settings is lost from time to time, unknown when/what trigger the setting to reset. Some pain to set it up.... very limited information what it does or does not do .... The app can adjust the brightness and temperature of the lights. You can set some timers But you can NOT use the app to turn on or off any bulbs. Neither can set like a sleep timer Feels overall very basic and dated A major flaw is the toggle switch on the remote... while you set timer on individual bulb the remote will turn on the other bulbs and turn off the bulb that was on by timer. It should be that the toggle should be able to get all bulb to the same state aka all on or all off ( now you have unpower the bulbs to get them in sync) We need version 3 now A m

Definitely not there yet.

Techsavysweetguy

1. Not very user friendly. 2. Hard to make a group unless it’s set up to begin with and without that all of the items show up as disconnected. 3. Not all of the lights show up in HomeKit unless you restart the whole process and that’s very very painful. I’m giving 2 stars, the second star is for the hope that one day it’s going to be better!! Not 100% compatible with HomeKit. Yet!!

Desperation

Never successfully add any Wireless Dimmer nor Remote Control. If you can’t do that, you’re unable to add any lights. That’s what I called desperation. However, I happen to have a backup Andr0id phone. It’s so easy to setup the TRÅDFRI system! It took me like two hours to add nothing with iPhone but twenty minutes to add four controllers and fifteen lights. It’s a shame for an iPhone people to get help from Andr0id. Fix the app please.
