Not stable

Pyromancer D

First off, don't believe the pairing instructions. It says put the remote 2 cm away while holding the pairing button. It should be more like 20. I find that when your phone locks while the app is open, it loses connectivity to the gateway. It works again when you reboot the app.

HomeKit finicky, design flaws

WA skiier

Had to disconnect hub from HomeKit due to issues and now will not reconnect. From forums, it sounds like this is a common issue. Also have to use an input device to link bulb to hub is an annoying design. Even worse is when using one dimmer to link multiple bulbs all bulbs are controlled by the dimmer. I can’t find a way to unlink a bulb from the dimmer but leave it connected to the hub. Good first steps, but anxious for firmware/software fixes. 2/2 got app update. Some finickiness continues. Lightbulbs loosing hub, having to be deleted and re-added.

Frequently requires restart

When it works it’s great. Unfortunately after some recent updates, the app loses connection with the gateway frequently and you have to go through a power cycle and reconnect process every other day. It was stable for weeks after I first set it up. Now it requires a reboot way too often. Something like this has to just work. Can’t recommend at this time.

Wow, talk about terrible

I didn’t know there could actually be software written this bad but this is horrible. First I haven’t been able to connect to my gateway for months. Tried resetting it without any luck. Next the interface is crap. The timer settings are stupid. You set one and it interferes with another. How about a simple linear timeline for each day and I can take blocks to select what I want the lights doing at each time. It’s dumb to set a wake up time but if I want the light to go back off as he sun comes up, oops that is an interference. Stupid. I’ve had this now since at least last August/ September and would happily return it all if I could. I was hoping they would be about 50 to 75% of the Philips but they are barely 1%. Absolutely worst automated lighting solution on the market. Cheap Chinese crap software is actually written far better than this.

Great product at an affordable price

Martifre

The TRÅDFRI system is very good. The lights look nice, it is easy to set up, and the app is intuitively set up. The only thing that is missing for me to give it 5 stars is support for Google Home. Hope that is coming soon. Also, a smart tip for everyone - let the bulbs and remotes update before you write a review. A lot of the comments here are due to you running outdated software.

Excellent

Almeidfw

It just works great. Great for work with apple home.

Bad Software. Cheap Hardware

Dwinterb

The software is the reason I tell my friends to purchase another brand. Maybe one day ikea can hire good engineers and make a good app. That day isn’t here yet.

Nice design but

RtsGamer

Love the design. Slick and intuitive. However it bugs out continually. Probably fails 3 times out of four where the bridge is not recognized. Can’t recommend it. It’s a beta system.

Not compatible with the default iOS app Home

dario.rm

4 months ago I got in contact directly with ikea app development department. They said the issue of not connecting with the “home” app was temporary. After 4 and a half months we still have the same issue. Pretty weird from one of the biggest company in the world. Half a star on this product.

Now with Google Home Support

Dtwhite

Now that Google Home support has been added, I have changed my review to 5 stars. Works great with Google Home. Can turn on and off my lights with voice commands and change brightness. Love it!
