Shamefully not functional

Schnark Buckerbird

after two months of moderate use, the remote broke and just doesnt sync anymore. Month 12: All 8 lights broke. Do not buy smart home products from ikea. I updated my app at one point, and the dim functionality stopped working. Nothing syncs anymore. Ikea has majorly embarrassed themselves with this one. They would be smarter to bend the knee to Philips and just sell theres because Ikea’s understanding about how smart home products should function is at a child’s level. The room system. I cannot move remotes to different rooms. Each smart item like a smart bulb can only be assigned to one room. What if I want a master remote that controls every light in all rooms or 3 remotes in my Entrance to control 2 lights? Not possible with the current system. This has already failed to surpass the ‘not-so-smart’ light / switch system that every house already has. Please take Amazon Alexa’s group system as a good example on how to organize groups. Calling it Rooms limits it to just that. Smart Objects should have instances of themselves and not be the object itself. I’m sure you’re seeing a ton of ‘positive’ reviews for this app but when you take a closer looks, you can see that a lot of them are generic, a clear sign of review faking. Shame on you, Ikea

Devices not responding in HomeKit

abellaofernandez

After updating the iOS 13, Tradfri devices are appearing as “No Response” on the Home app. A power restart of the bridge will fix it temporarily, but after a while the devices will not respond anymore. Unresponsiveness is still happening in iOS 13.1.2.

Literal garbage

Hours into it still can’t even get the gateway to connect, and IKEA’s website just tells me to follow the instructions on the app. It’s bad enough your product doesn’t work, you don’t have to patronize your customers on top of it.

If only the gateway would connect

Then this would be amazing! But it doesn't.

Devs need to remove WiFi Requirement

HugoEnder

With all of my smart home devices, I prevent them from communicating with the outside world for security reasons. When I want to control them while not at home, I connect to my home VPN network to form a secure tunnel into my network. Every smart device works with this setup except for this IKEA app. The reason is that it requires that your device be connected to a WiFi network. Doesn’t have to be your home network (if connected to your home VPN). Just has to be connected to A WiFi network. This is dumb and unnecessary. If I connect to a WiFi network outside of my home and then connect to my home VPN, it works fine. So what I’ve had to do to get around to this artificial and unnecessary limitation is to find a public WiFi network somewhere, connect to it, connect to my VPN and then open the app and control the IKEA device. Please fix this.

Waste of time

Never seen such unreliable software/hardware solution. Nothing works the first time, or even second and third. Set-up is very awkward, if not impossible. Can’t find my sonos speakers. Well every other app has no issues seeing my speakers! So mush waste if time, including going back, waiting in long lines to return all this crap.

Broken for around two month now...

mikede1973

IKEA I like your guy’s stuff... also liked the tradfri devices in the past... Apple gives developers months of lead time before a new OS is released... why after 2 month of iOS 13 do you still not have a solution? I cannot connect my gateway to home kit! Control of the devices in the Ikea app works... just not what I want and what I paid for

Completely broken firmware.

parshimers

Since IOS 13, this hardware does not work correctly with Homekit. The gateway will become unreachable within a day after a reboot. There has been no communication from Ikea about this total blocker issue, and it’s getting ridiculous. Save your money.

⚠️ Power State After Power Loss = On

Reaxi0n

When the power goes out at 2 am, be prepared to be awoken by a house full of bright 100% all of your smart lights On. I just found this out the hard way. Not happy and this has me contemplating ditching the one lights for other brands that do remember power state.

Works but Very buggy

It is ridiculous homeSmart does not have Cloud Integration for remote access after several years on market or a means to provide port forwarding to be able to control Trådfri hub from app. Sonos integration is not polished and crashes a lot hence my only view is to use the Sonos app but the effort to create a Sonos integration is nice overall as it helps bring down the inflated price of Sonos. Would love a Connect device for existing stereo that did not cost $350 a pop. Lights since they are on Zigbee Light Standard are better to integrate with SmartThings/HomeAssistant or if lucky integrate with Hue app. HomeSmart needs a lot work from Ikeas software development team in my opinion to compete competitively with Hue. Also random issues with not able to connect to Hub from app although directly connected on same network. Many areas for improvement.
