Like it a lot, but...

billybudd44

Overall I’m really happy with the app , but it loses a star because of one ongoing glitch: it often displays text in a slightly different spot from where it thinks the text is. What I mean by that is that often when I go to (for instance) underline a word, it actually places the underline through the word instead of under it - this happens frequently and with all the tools I’ve tried (highlighting, strike through, etc.). Not a huge deal, but pretty annoying.

Disappointed

I had iAnnotate years ago & had to change because it no longer could work with upgrades. I really liked it and was disappointed to lose it. When I saw they had fixed it I had high hopes. I’m so sorry I bought it. Now I have paid twice for something I can’t use. So sad we can’t ‘return’ defective programs like you can with items. Yes you can merge and delete pages but only one page at time. Very time consuming, especially if merging a few pages. Yes you can use side by side with another program but you can only see part of the page & it won’t scroll over to the other half. Yes you can change colors & pens but everything is so slow. You can only have one typewriter choice on the tool bar. It will crash if you try and add it. This is a great disappointment so I guess I will go back to my pdf reader though I really wanted to make this work. The reader is not my favorite lay out but at least it does what it’s ask to do.

Pencil functionality is suboptimal

MoAbdullah137

If I was using a passive stylus, I would be perfectly happy with this app. But I invested in an Apple Pencil and was hoping this app would take full advantage of it. It almost does, but it falls short. For free hand writing, the app is fairly close to real pen and paper; my finger only scrolls and zooms, the Pencil only writes. So far so good. Now let’s highlight something. I click the highlighter tool, and suddenly my whole hand becomes a highlighter. If I want to rest my hand on the tablet I have to use a hand guard. Hand guard? Really? All the R&D that went into the stylus so that I use a hand guard. Away with the guard. It’s lame and unnecessary. This also means you can’t scroll with 1 finger. You have to switch to 2 finger scrolling (which has no momentum, for some reason). Changing controls mid way is not a great idea, and 2 finger scrolling is unnecessary. If you want to revert back to the normal hand-stylus dichotomy, you have to tap “Done”. Again, this step is unnecessary. The iPad can tell the difference between my hand and the Pencil. My fingers should interact the same way with the highlighter tool as they do with the default writing tool; the hand scrolls, zooms, selects...etc while the Pencil marks. There should be no need for a guard, no switching between 1 finger and 2 fingers, and no tapping “done”. I’d imagine this is work in progress, but until it actually happens I can’t recommend this app if you’re using an Apple Pencil.

Please restore an iAnnotate 3’s function!

BlueTreeYou!

I have been using this product since the oldest version came out, which was probably more than 8 years ago. I love the latest version except that it does not allow readers to view the same document on different tabs WITHOUT creating multiple copies. The loss of this function available up until iAnnotate 3 hugely disappointed me, and I would like to ask the developer to restore the function in the strongest possible manner. The function is useful for those who read academic documents. Reading academic documents requires readers to go back and forth among texts, endnotes, and bibliography. Thus, viewing the same document on three different tabs are a very efficient way yo read documents. To be sure, iAnnotate4 allows readers to do so by allowing them to CREATE copies of the original documents. However, these copies will cease being needed once readers finish reading the document. As a result, once finishing reading the document, readers will be left with unnecessary copies. Furthermore, up to iAnnotate 3, if readers highlight different parts of the copies of the same document, all the highlights will be saved to the original document once readers close the copies of the original. This is not the case, however, with iAnnotate 4. As a result, readers have to reluctantly keep the created copies because highlights are now scattered across multiple copies. In conclusion, i believe the old function described above is hugely useful to those who want to view and highlight different pages of the same document WITHOUT creating multiple copies of the same document. Therefore, i would really appreciate it if the developer considers restoring this function to iAnnotate 4, which is a great product except for this point. Once again, i have been your royal customer for more than 8 years, and please let me be so in the future.

OCR UPDATE NEEDED - The SCAN option needs OCR

OCR UPDATE NEEDED - The SCAN option needs OCR Thanks

Best pdf viewer and annotator I’ve ever used.

yoman5

So much better than acrobat, I almost never use acrobat for anything anymore. OCR would be huge, to be able to convert then full text search something.

Helps to keep track

Night Fox Services

Take a little getting used to the interface but once you learn it, it helps you to make notes and do some editing

Suggestions to tweak on the Eraser tool.

bad-boy killa

When using this tool it asks are you sure about “erasing” all “Annotations on this specific page”. When I chose this option, it “also deleted my sound clip I created as well as the Note I had created!” These two items are NOT Annotations of the page, they are in fact a (NOte & a Sound Clip). It would be cool of you to make this tweak please on the Erase function for a single page Tool. Thanks for a cool Product and it’s improvements!

Lost my work

Mysimplelife.......

When upgrading for large files it started to transfer from iannotate3 to iannotate4, then crashed, and lost 2 days worth of work. Garbage.

Inefficient and overloaded

Paladin32776

- cannot easily simply access the storage locations I have on my iPad in all other apps, can’t get to, iCloud - no simple way to, SIMPLY REDLINE a document!! - Constantly getting unintended streaks from my fingers trying to move the doc - No easy way to use an eraser, software unpredictably toggles between treating redlines as objects and just pixels - Double tap to switch to eraser does not work - no eraser in toolbar!!! I WANT THE PURCHASE PRICE BACK [edit 8/18/2020] Received developer response addressing none of the issues I listed - see below. They seem to think they’ll get way with keeping my money and just sitting it out. Again: PLEASE REFUND ASAP!
