No easy way to erase

geoffreview2

So I deleted my original review because the nickname made this app sound worse than it is. For all it’s good features, before you buy it, there is no easy way to erase. No eraser tool. The developers provided some not so great workaround suggestions and were very friendly and said they’re looking into a way to make erasing easier, but know that as of this review, there is no eraser tool like there is on most similar apps.

Years of work

I’ve been using this app since my BA, and I can honestly say it has made my life easier. It’s has helped me to develop short works, long works (like my thesis), read simple things for my own enjoyment and, finally, organize myself and spaces. I am really grateful for it and I suggest it to anyone I can. The price is completely fair, it is an investment worth of doing on the long run.

Good, could use more accessible organization options.

jklison

Overall a very useful app. Could use a better organizational structure for accessing files. Also, writing but then not being able to erase parts of writing, but having to erase all of what I have written after changing tools is less efficient when I’m switching tools a lot and trying to annotate a lecture.

Fine app with rooms for improvement

やふはまのひなま

I like the stylish look of the app and the basic functions of it. However, for someone who enjoys highlighting with favorite colors and customize notes, it lacks the ability to be creative. It is amazing to have an expanded color palette, but what’s good if you can’t create their own favorite set? Or am I missing some setting tools to set my own color palette? Also, I think it will be super useful if there’s a dictionary linked to the app. It’s a pain to google definitions and copy and paste to notes.

Improvements

I’m using this to mark up revisions on construction drawings, and it works well fo that on my iPad. A copy function for quickly repeating corrections would be great.....the stamp is an awkward and time consuming tool to use. Also, an option to keep some of the tools, the arrow tool for example, selected, would save many steps....right now it reverts to the pencil tool after drawing one arrow, or line, or circle.

News and updates?

MárioOi

Excelent app, but do we have any news in horizon? App is felling dated in the recent iOS/iPadOS versions.

Great for narration!

Consider the field

I highlight with different colors for each character- easy Peary.

Great tool for reviewing documents

Have used this app for reviewing construction documents. It would be great if there is a report that would list comments made in a document.

Appalling support, do not rely in this for your business or profession

IdeaworxLew

Developer finally responded, response was just an apology and no help at all. Apple support determined that iAnnotate had irretrievably lost more than 100 annotated scientific papers vital to the Stealth Syndrome Project:stealthsyndromeproject.com IAnnotate is a toy which should not be trusted for professional tasks. It’s unreliable and its support makes even Comcast look good. I got an email stating that the company had sent me a response, but it must have been stuck in my spam folder, NOPE!!! Not there. See, I don’t have a spam folder because in addition to biomedical research, I write thrillers and get email from readers all over the world who often put weird things in the subject lines. Because I want to make sure that readers get served, I wade through all the offal spam posts The “response” from iAnnotate is below. Oh, and the “contact the developer” link goes to a generic iAnnotate page which means they do not really want you to contact them. ====== developer response ======= Dear Lewis, Branchfire, Inc. responded to your review of iAnnotate 4 — PDFs & more Branchfire, Inc. "Hello, I can see that your email was responded to on 7/23. Please check your spam folder, and I can also let our team know to forward the response to you again. **************** Hi there, thank you for writing in. We apologize for the frustration, but we truly take pride in the level of support we give to each customer that writes in. I can see that your ticket has been answered and our team is currently awaiting your response. We look forward to helping resolve the issue!" Do you want to update your review? You can also contact the developer. ========== previous posts ======= UPDATE—WEDNESDAY, July 26, 2018...no response to my request for help sent on July 20. I am a biomedical researcher and have lost 2.6 GB of research papers. I was copying them up to Dropbox. The backup finished and iAnnotate noted that the papers had been transferred. However, when I checked Dropbox showed they had not been backed up. When 8 went back to iAnnotate, it crashed and has never started again. I described the issue in greater detail than this in an email to iAnnotate support and included detailed system configuration of my iPad including the fact that iPad Settings indicated that the papers were still on my device. It’s truly inexcusable on Branchfire’s part not even to respond. UPDATE—SATURDAY, July 21, 2018.... because iAnnotate crashed and the support is working on a 1990’s paradigm, I have been using the annotation tools in the free version of Adobe Acrobat for my iPad ... finding that the free version works for my research about as well as iAnnotate. I’m thinking about getting the premium Acrobat and punting on iAnnotate entirely. iA has some nice features, but they mean nothing when iA crashes and there’s no one around to help. You may want to try out Acrobat’s free version before buying iA. FROM FRIDAY, July 20– No one to help outside of 9am-5pm US central time, Monday-Friday. That is unprofessional and amateurish on their part and tells everybody in the world who doesn’t live in their time zone to get lost. You should not allow your business, profession or educational studies to depend on this. The app has some very nice features, but their support is stuck in the early, pre-Web 1990s.

You need to improve

Kels Sullivan

You need to make a way to highlight in a book when you do something through jotnot pro and then get it into iAnnotate and be able to highlight in the text even if its a big file.
