This app is falling from grace

Awkward Sylence

This has been my go-to app for editing powerpoints and PDFs for years. The new features like making boxes and circles were a welcome addition to the toolbox and has made my annotations much better as a result. I still love the color options, the ability to save an entire palate of highlighters, pens, text boxes, etc. Linking to Dropbox has been a breeze. When the app works, it works great. WHEN it works. These days the app crashes as soon as I try to click the icon to open it. So all those excellent features that I love about the program don’t matter because I can’t even access them. Hoping that there will be a nice patch soon or something that can fix the glitches in the system. Until then I would have a hard time recommending anyone get the app as it is, when it can’t even open.

Generally excellent but I wish...

I chose this app for the compatibility with other apps, those especially on my laptop. I like this so far. But some functions that I thought basic do not appear. I wish I had: 1) continuous undo and redo. If I make a change and another. I can undo and redo only for the last change. I cannot go back to the previous ones by clicking undo a few times. I can only delete the previous changes that I made even though that was made only 30 seconds ago. 2) searching page numbers in the book format. I have a pdf book. It distingshes i-x and 1-231. iAnnotate does well to show this formatted pagination but when I try to move from the page navigation tool, it is only possible with unformatted pagination. For example, if I want to go to p.10, I should not enter 10 but 20 or 20+the number of front matters pages. I also have a pdf file with three volumes in one paginated as II:30 or III:2. I also cannot go to a page by this format. 3) writing only with the pencil option, which many other apps have. I want to scroll with my finger and write with my pencil without touching a button and switching the mode. 4) two page view. I applaude your two document view but I will as much benefit from two page view, if not more. 5) an eraser tool. I thought this must be basic but not in iAnnotate. It is somewhat complicated to erase some handwritings, though not impossible. 6) search option with file name. It is cool sometimes that I can search even contents. But many times it is too messy, so I just want to search only file names. These are the reasons why I gave four stars instead of five. Other than these, I am satisfied. Fairly compatible with Acrobat on PC. The search engine is still incomparably great. I do not see any other apps do this. File managing directly from cloud servers is too attractive and is not provided by most of the other apps. It does not make an extra file in your local drive. The taps are great, which iPad Acrobat does not support. Having all these functions in one, iAnnotate is still irreplaceable for me despite the above limitations.

The best

FistOf Strength

Simply the best. Enough said.

What happened?!?

Sleightoffeet

The app responds half the time and randomly it decides that I need to change the name of the file. This was such a great app. What happened?!?!?

Can't appreciate it enough

bilal_tanweer

I have had this app ever since I have had an iPad. It makes working with PDFs a breeze and it is one of the very few apps that have support for all the cloud services. It is a powerful annotating tool, and much cheaper and better than other PDF applications. Really appreciate the good old non-subscription model too. My only suggestion would be integration with Evernote whose annotation tools are not appropriate for working with text. Thank you to the BranchFire team for this wonderful app.

Annotations “move’

Preview Works Better

When opening up PDFs I’ve marked up before, I’ve found the annotations have been shifted on the page, now being located directly on top of text when I previously wrote on blank areas of the page. I now have to move my annotations to see the actual PDF text, which is difficult because iAnnotate has broken up my annotations into separate pieces and I have to move words, characters, and other markups one by one. Not a reliable app.

iAnnotate not the same

Zoë Too.

I had been using iAnnotate since when first come out, when a new version was made available, I decided to keep the old version for my private documents and the new version for my studies, I was very please with this system, I could search and add to both App according to my needs, just recently got the iPad Pro, and I had to transfer all my Apps and subsequent documents, while doing so the old version of iAnnotate, disappeared including all my documents, in both of my iPads, I have try to find the old App on the App Store to no avail. Is there any thing I can do to find and re-set all of the info I lost as well as getting back the original iAnnotate App?

Great

I’ve been using this app since law school eight years ago. It was perfect then for extracting important passages from hundred of pages of reading and I still use it today to extract passages and e-mail them to myself for future reference...great app!

Can no longer move files from iTunes Sharing to Local

Kalliopeathena

Just upgraded from v3 to v4. I can transfer files from my laptop to iAnnotate, just as in v3. They are automatically placed in an iTunes Sharing folder. I used to always be able to then move them to the Local folder. V4, however, no longer allows such a move. The files can be “copied” from iTunes Sharing to Local. But then when they are deleted from iTunes Sharing, they are also deleted from Local. Why can Local no longer be used as a storage bin? How do you get files from your computer into Local? I would like to return to iAnnotate v3. Can you tell me how to do that?

It’s useful

It’s not very good, it’s a waste of money I don’t really recommend it, and it is difficult to use; there is no eraser tool, in the tabs
