iPad version and Chromecast aren't getting along

Medicangyle

My iPad and my Chromecast used to get along so well. Since this most recent update rolled out, casting hasn't worked. My iPhone version casts just fine but the iPad version will only cast if you start playing the video, stand on one leg, wear one pink sock and one striped leg warmer, and sacrifice 2 virgin tomatoes to Cthulhu.

So much worse

scojjac

This version of the app is SO much worse than what came before. It is significantly harder to find shows and clips. All appearance, no substance.

rewind/fast forward feature the WORST

Thaliagrace2001

honestly I used to love watching Hulu but the rewind/fast forward by touching the screen feature is infuriating!!! I watch my shows on my phone while I get ready for work in the morning and accidentally touch the screen a lot which means I lose my place in the episode and have to try to find it again. It’s honestly so annoying and happens so often i think I’m going to cancel my subscription which I’ve had for years. No one wants this feature, it’s annoying af. At least give us the option to turn it off!!!

Has Issues

Blondehusky

Many dislike the new interface, as do I. It is not user friendly. Takes forever to find new shows as instead of using a Netflix-esc interface, it displays 1 show at a time. But that is not the main reason I am writing this review. For some reason, when you are watching a tv series, the next episode that auto plays automatically turns on subtitles, despite having the setting off both in app and in phone settings. This used to not be too bad, as you could just pull up the settings and re-turn it off. Now, you can’t even do that. So you have to stop watching to turn captions off. This is incredibly annoying since I don’t need nor want them on. Also, multiple ads from Showtime drop the F-bomb. I really don’t appreciate that. You should screen your ads better so this doesn't play on more shows kids are watching. I will be calling your offices to make a complaint.

Flawed

Disappointed trivia player

Worst flaw for me is the awful transition from full screen to split screen in iOS. I also have to restart app way too often.

Won’t chromecast sometimes

Leo0oG

There are somethings that don’t like about the app but are not enough to make me want to write a bad review, but it really annoys me that 50% of the time I’m not able to chromecast it. I try closing and opening the app a bunch of times and sometimes it works and sometimes not. I end up just watching something on Netflix eventually.

Horrible Design

nomnom1

Hulu is a great service, but the iPad app is terrible. I dont have the premium subscription, so I have to watch ads. This is fair, but the ads come up at the worst times! Your program starts with an ad, plays the opening scene, then another ad not 5 minutes later! You will also get another ad minutes before your show ends. So you're forced to watch a 90 second ad to finish the last 2-3 minutes of your show. The controls are wonky its easy to accidentally rewind or fast forward. And if you rewind past an ad marker, guess what? You're watching that ad all over again! This is the only review I've ever written on any app, thats how bad it is. If Hulu cares about customer service they will pay attention to all these bad reviews and fix it in the next update!

Playback controls make it hard to pause!

Donna101

They changed the control for navigating within the video to something completely non-standard. If you press in slightly the wrong place to pause, it navigates to somewhere else in the video. Why are they trying to innovate in video controls?

For the love of god

adevtype

This new app I TERRIBLE! Fresh design where you can’t find anything. After fast forwarding to some random place in a show for the 5th time in 10 minutes I stopped to tell you how god aweful this is.

Just, don’t

touchie2

The ads and the menus just make this horrible. Save your money (trust me).
