Easy to use but has some glitches

I frequently book hotels on Hotwire- it's the only way I reserve nowadays. The app makes it easier because it saves my recent searches and they also have promo codes that are exclusive to booking through the app.

We've had good and bad experiences with Hotwire--most recently we purchased a week at a 5 star hotel in Paris based on their "hot rate" which claimed to slash a $675 per night room over 60% off to "only" $250. After the booking gave us the name of the hotel--Renaissance Paris Le Park Trocodero-- We looked up and assumed we were getting a suite or family room based on rate. However, after getting here we were given a very nice but cramped and basic room which is published at under $250 on Expedia and similar sites. After emailing and calling Hotwire we we were given absolute runaround. 30 minute call from Europe to USA (routed to India)...representative just kept repeating that they bought rooms at the highest rate $675, which of course is complete baloney, and that its all subject to availability. So basically you should never trust that you will get a good deal--and you should expect Hotwire to have zero accountability.

My wife and I did a Last Minute Booking and received a confirmation from Hotwire. 45 minutes later we get a phone message from Hotwire saying that the hotel is overbooked and that we need to call back to that they can "assist" us. After waiting 10 minutes to speak to a live person, I was put on hold for over 45 minutes. My wife called using her phone... same thing. So, we gave up. Hotwire turned out to be unreliable and super frustrating.
Great app, but website has more functionality

The app is great, almost as good as the website. Main difference from website is that you can't sort in terms of % recommended. Suggestions for improvement: 1. Add sort per % recommended 2. Add search hotel by feature. For example I am looking for a hotel that is 3 star, it has free breakfast and has a pool.

I used to use Hotwire all the time. Now, when traveling, it's hit or miss on them. Their star ratings for hotels are all over the board. I appreciate the good deals they get but it's anyone's guess what the state of the hotel will be. Always read hotel reviews and please write reviews!
