Medtronic needs to update their tech

DancingDiva2015

I’m very disappointed with Medtronic and this app is no different. I cannot even link my transmitter. It seems like all around all the tech involved with this new CGM and the 670 system is a waste because I can’t extrapolate data well enough. Medtronic PLEASE UPDATE THIS STUFF, I want to love it, but I can’t even start using it

You need to tell us it doesn’t work!

Although I have other issues with this and other health care companies, to be fair, my review is just going to mention the app itself: Generally speaking, the app is well-designed and works as it is supposed to. After getting the app (and the CGM it goes with) I was mostly frustrated with the CGM, its battery life, and other details of which I was not aware before purchase. The app itself generally worked. However, after multiple updates from Apple (currently iOS 13.3), the app seems to permanently disconnect from the transmitter whenever the phone turns off. This has caused me to waste the sensor on at least two different occasions now. I understand that the makers of the app do not control Apple’s update process, but it is imperative that an app representing such an investment in physical equipment be responsible enough to communicate the fact that the app no longer works as expected to their customers! I have received notices from Medtronic about other issues, so I am confident that they could reach out to me. I also have recently purchased another set of sensors, so I am confident that some information could have been shared at the point of sale. A notice as you open the app that it may not work is not enough, especially when you have no indication from Apple or Medtronic that the software necessary to run this Bluetooth-based app will be affected by updating! To summarize, this app has the ability to make our yearly investment of thousands of US dollars a complete waste. As such, Medtronic must take responsibility for it at a higher level!

Compatibility

Spent a lot of money to switch my phone from android to iPhone. Guardian connect was compatible with version 13.1 but my phone updated to 13.3 and now the app and transmitter do not communicate with each other. Please update this app so it will be compatible with version 13.3 on the iPhone 11.

Can’t connect to transmitter.

I’ve tried on two separate occasions to connect to the transmitter and it continues to fail. Perhaps there be an option for a user to enter the SN manually? Medtronic is years behind Dexcom on mobile reporting and analysis.

Needs work sub par experience

This app is not great and it needs to be more integrated with the 2 other apps one needs to install. They should all be combined into one app instead of having a to flip apps back and forth. The charts are not scaling the y axis to the values on the chart leading to huge wastes of space on the screen does not integrate with Apple health that is a huge miss. Data entry is very rudimentary and utilitarian most other apps that allow for tracking glucose levels and intake do a far better job. You are stuck with the alert sounds that the developer used in the app and if you are hearing impaired you are out of luck. The user must enter data to calibrate the app and the sensor several times a day and it is darn inconvenient and forget about making corrections. Simple things like getting physical activity from Apple health to skip recording some date manually via the hokey pokey interface are not there. Say that you are trying to manage your carb intake well that makes you do more work to figure out what you need to record. It would be awesome if the app could take into account your routine to help you automate the application routine tasks like calibration. If the app recorded your weekday routine of when ones gets up goes to bed and time for the meals it can at least be smarter about when to ask to calibrate or give better predictive alerts. For that matter it should even read what a connected glucometer just read instead of doing manual data entry. Have to jump to my glucometer app do a test get the value then jump back and record it manually. It should also keep track of my medication schedule for diabetes and what dosage and prescription I use and when do I take it. The app won’t integrate with more advanced apps such as my sugr or diet managers if this app would share data with those apps users would have and end to solution. App should provide better charting and statistical data such as a trend line a moving average line, candlestick charts, daily, weekly, monthly, hourly, nighttime averages. Target numbers goal tracking. The charting stops when calibration is past due instead it should switch to a different color or line style during that period instead of loosing the data. This app needs to be evolved into a market defining app for now is just another utilitarian app of very small limited value

Crashes and requires complete reset

dtimbol

If you ever have your phone out of battery, this app crashes and loses all data. This app has crashed twice in the space of 24h. Each time, upon reopening, ALL information (login and password and ALL alarm settings) have to be re-rentered. Each time, an already warmed up sensor has to go through a new 2h warmup period. Beware that, after you have spent probably multiple THOUSANDS of dollars on a medical device whose only interface is this app, this app is not at all user-friendly, is buggy, and not-well-supported. Medtronic: prove me wrong.

Won’t connect

Just wont connect to sensor

Data Completely Erased - Version 3.2.4

Disgruntled DM1

For absolutely no reason at all, the App just decided to crash and delete all of my data. Months of data from in between my doctor’s visits, all gone. Even after logging into my Care Link account again on the app (and frustratingly setting up the app’s settings again AND disconnect/reconnect my transmitter....) the data was not preserved. It is inconceivable how poorly our data is being handled and safeguarded. This App is not safe for Type 1 diabetics and in 2020 no large DME corporation should have such poor data integrity.

Seriously desperately needing UPDATES!

Hyllaerye

This app shows support for the iPhone X but no support for iOS13.3?! I am seriously thinking about running the pump and sensor through a meat grinder with such lack of keeping up to date with operating systems! Shame on you Medtronic!!!

Not workin with IOS 13

Amrati23

Started using the app 3 months now, i didn’t like the fact that i cannot edit carbs or insulin i took. Sometimes i end up not eating the amount of carbs i put in it. when you enter a data to the app you can’t edit it later. I said that is not a big deal but now i bought a new phone and the app is not working with IOS 13 ! Gonna change to Freestyle libre for sure
