If it can support reading epub format

This is one of my favorite and only note taking apps, I used it for reading pdf documents and wish if it can support epub books too. Great app it got the potential to replace Kindle app if it can only support epub.

Best app for notes, planning, and organizing!

I got a new iPad last week to use for writing. Did some research and discovered GoodNotes was the most recommended app for taking notes. I've been using it for just over a week, and I'm still learning the ins and outs of the program, but so far I haven't found anything I want to do that it can't do. If you're a serious writer or a student, you NEED this app!

ADD VOICE MEMOS/ RECORDINGS

The only thing for me holding this app back is the absence of voice memos

The best note taking app

I have tried most of the notebook and note taking apps on the App Store, but goodnotes finally let me go truly paperless. I’m still on my iPad air1, and the zoom window and a regular stylus is the easiest to use of any app because it doesn’t get in the way of writing at all. In most other apps I haven’t found the zoom window to be helpful, it was more confusing and slowed me down. I’ve tried the adonit Bluetooth stylus with this and it was great until it unfortunately broke, but the others I’ve tried did not work as well. Goodnotes implemented them well but the styli themselves just didn’t do it well. Now I’m using just an ordinary stylus with mesh tip or my thicker Bluetooth stylus with the batteries removed, with matte screen protector and that seems to work best for me. Anyway, the sync works great and I also have it on my Mac so that any changes I make are also reflected on there, then I can print my notes easily at my office (they still need paper copies for records) where we don’t have an AirPrint compatible printer. Importing pdf’s is easy and I mark them up, and I’m also using this to write music charts for wedding gigs and exporting those directly to forscore, so no more charts imported with the camera that wind up looking all sorts of ways. You won’t be sorry if you get this app. Someday I’ll get an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil and having tried a Friend’s setup I already know this works great for goodnotes.

Stuck and Passed

I wrote to the creators of this app over a year ago about adding certain features. I was trying to choose between GoodNotes and Notability and at the time I preferred (slightly) GoodNotes. They assured me things like vertical scrolling were “on the way.” Since then, Notability has been updated numerous times with actually new features. It closed the gap with GN and surpassed it significantly within the past two weeks with handwriting recognition that makes better sense than GN’s. That’s on top of vertical scrolling and recorded note taking. GoodNotes is the same today as it was last summer. ?

Failed to open document

The app worked great until I lost a third of my files, TWICE!! I tap to open a folder and it says “failed to open document”

I really like this app!

App has been made simple with just the right amount of features. Like bookmarking pages, best palm tracking I’ve ever seen when using Apple Pencil and thumbnail pages. Really glad I bought it and can’t think of anything I’d change. If you’re looking to replace an actual notebook, this is perfect in my opinion. Get it.

Versatile, useful, and private - pretty much perfect

I handle sensitive documents, so a robust, user-focused privacy policy is nonnegotiable. That eliminated most of the Apple Pencil note taking apps on the market from consideration. However, GoodNotes app is fully GDPR compliant and provides user defined choice of backup and syncing options. Plus, the ability to leave documents local on my iPad is a valuable and appreciated option. More than the privacy respect, though, is the app’s usefulness. It handles everything from book-length pdf files to shopping lists to quick brainstorming sketches to children practicing penmanship. It works flawlessly with my Apple Pencil. GoodNotes is a workhorse, by far the most used app I own. Worth every penny. Bonus, their Twitter team are nice, helpful and funny! Lastly, their email list is a non intrusive, helpful way to dig deep into the app’s more esoteric and specialized functionality. Overall, I think this is hands down one of the best apps in the App Store. For anyone who wants to either go paperless or have a true notebook-style digital alternative, there is not a better app than GoodNotes.
