Worthless. Does not block Facebook or Instagram.

ccs1215

This app does not block Facebook and Instagram and does not prominently state such in its product description. Those are really the two apps I need blocked. And the work around-deleting the apps and blocking the App Store—is the biggest hassle and is not really a work around at all. I could just delete and redownload the apps myself but it’s a massive pain. I would like a refund but I do not know how to contact.

Functions ~20% of the time.

probably a bad app

Generally didn't work on mobile. Can't block Facebook. Confusing UI. Not worth the effort to work around this apps quirks when there are freedom blockers that actually work. DO NOT PAY FOR THIS APP.

Doesn’t Block Instagram anymore

PR-SUPERSTAR

This is the most important app to block. I wish you would have mentioned it somewhere so I didn’t purchase.

Life Changing

Edit 1.5 years later: still amazing. Glitchy on an iPhone, especially since I can just uninstall it anytime. The way I’ve gotten around this is by setting parental restrictions on my phone, putting the password for the restrictions on a blog post, and then blocking the website of the blog during the workday. Works like a charm. This app has had such a profound impact on my life that I spent an entire therapy session talking about it. In a word, is it AMAZING. I paid to upgrade and am able to schedule my blocks in advance and put a "lock" on them so I can't change my mind and undo a block once it's begun. It's gotten me away from compulsively checking social media or endlessly reading the news or falling into a YouTube black hole. I've used apps like this before, but what makes this different is the ability to schedule in advance and that it covers as many devices as you want. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Glitchy

I’ve been using Freedom for over a year and I’m slowly falling out of love with it. Some days it blocks what I want, when I want. Some days it blocks nothing. Some days it blocks on my phone but not my desktop. Some days it blocks email only but not my selected apps and websites. If it were more consistent, I’d be a happy camper because when it works, it’s wonderful. It seems that as time goes on, it is becoming more and more glitchy and inconsisten.

When it works it’s great

I’ve had it for about a month and it was great at first but inexplicably stopped blocking things consistently, usually YouTube and Tweetbot. Sometimes it would start working again if I force quit both the Freedom app and the one I wanted to block, and then restart Freedom. But sometimes not, and it shouldn’t take this much tinkering. I finally deleted Tweetbot, which I’d paid for , and it does block the twitter website. I’m definitely not going to renew my subscription to Freedom unless they fix the app. The desktop version (Windows) also has flaws; I recommend using StayFocusd instead (although that one is easy to get around).

This app completely solved my social media addiction

Starless Streets

Social media is great but I was in the habit of mindlessly scrolling Facebook and Twitter. This app just.... fixed that. Make sure to use scheduled blocks, and once you are comfortable with your schedule, use locked mode.

A weight off my shoulders

Petereia

No more "one more minute" of wasted time on my cell phone. That battle is over and I feel relieved. It's so easy to make a split second choice to lock your phone.

Love the app, hate how easy it is to disable

WDJapes

I really loved this app until I found out how to disable it via a Connect On Demand toggle. If they fixed that, this app would be perfect for me.

Doesn’t work

Doesn’t even lock the apps so it basically doesn’t work. This is so bad.
