Such a good game, such painful controls

Quacker Jack

I absolutely love FF6. It was my favorite SNES game as a kid and I love that I can play it on my phone. Except... The controls are HORRENDOUS. Seriously, the touchpad is very touchy. I could get beyond this is the touchpad stayed fixed, but it moves every time you touch the screen. It should do this if you select the option, but it looks like that is bugged in the menu and does nothing. The lack of an action button makes trying to talk to running people horrible. This game is infuriating and is almost unplayable. I think Square Enix should use the controls they did for Secret of Mana for this game, as they were way more usable. PLEASE SQUARE ENIX IMPROVE THE CONTROLS. For my childhood sake. I'll change this to a 5 immediately thereafter.

Great Game but...

Chrismholmes

I love this game. The story is phenomenal and a blast to play, on every system but mobile. The controls are horrible. I think they have managed to get even worse through patching. Please just take the controls from CHRONO Trigger and bring them over to this game. That at least was better than this. I've tried every combination of options to make this gameplay more enjoyable, and it's not... Please address.

New Interface ruined my experience

Zeldazoid

If you can tolerate the revised battle hud, then this is for you. However, the new interface has made the game very difficult to play. The buttons are small and hard to tap. The experience would be much better if it had a n emulator control setup with the original hud (like final fantasy 7 for iPhone is setup).

An Excellent Utilization of the Technology at Hand

Some others on here have very much ranted about this, so I thought I'd give some leveled opinions. The controls, while not an SNES controller by any means, are very good. I think they did an amazing job with what they had available. The controls aren't clunky in any way. The battle interface works well, too. Touch controls work near seamlessly. If you've played a previous version, it'll take some getting used to, however it is a large step up here. Sound quality is top notch. Lastly, the graphics. If you've played this before, the sprites may bother you as they differ from the original. However, if this is your first play through, then the sprites are absolutely fine, and do not seem out of place at all. It is an exceedingly well done port. If you're on the fence for the above reasons, take charge and make the purchase. You'll be glad you did!

Better than expected

@ohnoitschris

Controls aren't great, especially on iPad. Really needs an option to use the old graphics, too, the new character graphics look cheesy and amateurish. Then again, being able to speed up and automate battles is a MASSIVE plus. The iCloud and controller support are much appreciated too, though, I got this on sale for $8, and that feels like it should be the standard price at most for a 20 year old game with no new quests or areas added. This is the greatest game ever made, but the GBA version remains the definitive way to play.

Must buy

Ahn787

One of the greatest RPGs of all time.

No FMV Sequences

crazyblu

What's the point if the Ps1 FMV movies are not in it?

Best game ever created .. ported to iOS

John Malpas

Played this when I was a kid, now the remastered version for mobile is just a better rendition of the best SNES game of all time. Hundreds of hours of gameplay. Hooks you from the very beginning. Glad to see final fantasy 15 taking cues from FF6. Get your chocobo's loaded up and your crew together in the airship.... cuz it's time to take down Kefka one last time! KUPO!

Suggesting minor improvements

Samp1800

Compared to other Final Fantasy ports on iOS, FF6 has a mismatched icon where the Final Fantasy logo is larger than it should be. Please resize the icon for consistency. Also, the bilinear filtering of the sprites in a non-filtered background creates a graphics inconsistency that is slightly bothersome. Please add an option in the config to replace sprites with native pixel art.

Really wanted to enjoy it

I had heard great things, so I was excited to play this game! But I spent most of my time just being frustrated because the controls are horrendous and the paths are never clear. Wandering aimlessly around trying to find out where to go, while depleting all my supplies getting into useless battles was not fun for me. Very disappointed.
