Like the site app is hard to navigate

Ello is a great social media platform. However, the app is not very intuitive. I have tried to edit my profile using the app and I can’t ever save changes. When I try to exit out the only option to to discard changes or continue editing. Where is the save??????? Same problem trying to put up a new post. I click on the camera button and it just gives profile info. I have searched the app for quite a while and can’t find a way to post. Again, probably a simple thing, but if I have to search then the design is flawed. Social media app should have a post button front and center.

So much potential!!

The app was clunky to use at first, but I quickly adjusted my expectations and thought process. However, there are things I just couldn’t abide by: Major issues: 1) no native support for video. It only hosts video you’ve uploaded elsewhere and provide links for. 2) when uploading a series, you have to do them one by one, going through the tedious add process for each image. Would be nicer to go to your image library just once and selecting several images at a time. Those two points alone are enough to make me delete this app after less than 24 hours. NOT user friendly. Minor issues: 1) images look stretched out at first- distorted 2) when uploading a series, images wouldn’t display correctly or at all in preview. You just had to hit Post and hope it turned out. It always did, but the white space is unnerving when trying to see how it looks together before posting. 3) the app auto-followed over 100 people the moment I signed up?!? I suppose this is how they match you with people who match the type of categories you picked?!? Not how I like to roll. I’ll follow people on my own thanks.

Crashes every time

I can’t even set up my account because it keeps crashing. Awful.

App doesn’t work half the time, zero support available for tech issues

I want to love this app but it literally only works about 25% of the time. Constant errors, bugs and totally broken code that renders it impossible to add or upload images to your posts which is totally messed up since this app is a VISUAL social network. I have tried over and over every trick in my own book to try to reboot the app to get it to function but nothing works and they provide zero technical support for their app. It’s a waste of tile to keep trying to post to only be met with an error each time I spend time and consideration writing to only receive and error and no way to save my changes or post. I can’t even save changes to my own account let alone a post. Help. Want to use this app. Want to support it. But we need tech support not a circle loop of FAQ and contact that lead nowhere.

Revised Review

Upon leaving Facebook and Instagram in search of platforms with integrity, I was still in a mindset of algorithms, likes, and followers. So when I approached Ello with that mindset, I was disappointed. Years on these other networks had me convinced that my worth was dependent on numbers and reactions. Today, I’m able to see Ello for its innovative potential, and I’ll be using it as my online jewelry portfolio to reference my customers to...which is awesome compared to sending potential customers to a social platform rife with ads and trolls. As I relearn what it truly means to be an artist OUTSIDE of the control of social media networks, I’m coming to terms with what I said I wanted being my new reality: being an honest artist not focused on numbers but on sharing my passion. So thank you, Ello, for providing a space for creators BY creators...and for giving me back my power.

Buggy app.
Zarafayaz

When making a post it is very difficult to upload multiple artworks into one. There's no option to select multiple. Please fix this. Also when uploading, the thumbnails turn black and you can't preview what you're uploading. I use an iPhone X.

Spam

Seems there’s an ongoing spam issue on this platform. The app is a little buggy but I could overlook those issues if every follower wasn’t a spam account. Deleted our account.

Oh well

Was excited to find this app, downloaded it and tried to sign up. Won’t respond... screen just sits there changing colors. Clicked the accept terms button, etc.... nothing.

Not posting images
lindstar

I downloaded the app to replace Instagram because I was coming back to Ello after being gone for three years and it won’t post images. There’s also no way to contact support. And I agree with one of the other reviews that both the website and the app or not intuitive at all. There’s no confirmation when I changed my password. The app has been allowed access to my images, but for some reason it still won’t post anything. I can only post text. Can’t even post images to comments. What’s the point of having an app if I can’t post images to it? Nobody wants to social media from their computer.

Bravo!

Well done, team Ello! Been using the desktop and mobile versions for a while now, nice to finally be on an App. Since Ello came around, it’s now the only social media platform I use. Unfortunately, this App is missing many key features so in good faith I just can not yet give it 5 stars. In addition to the below, I suggest you hire UX and UI designers. I promise you’ll benefit from doing so. Missing Basic Key Features: - Landscape View - Scroll To Top of Page Button - Edit Previous Post Option - More Visible & Stronger Search - Searching #'s - Etc. Keep working on improving the UX, establishing a stronger consistency for users between displays (i.e. The 13th principle of display design) and adding missing features and you will have an unbeatable platform in no time.
