App is bad - service is good

The new iteration of this app is absolutely awful in design and execution. It’s not user friendly and the UX is poorly thought out. I get that they’re making the look and feel similar to Greyhound’s aesthetic but functionality needs some actual attention and UX needs a complete overhaul with the actual user experience in mind.

This review is for the app, not the service. I have been riding bultbus for going on five years now and I haven't had an issue with anything until this dreadful new update to the bultbus app (the mobile website is not any better). Not only did I grow a beard in the amount of time it took for new pages to load, but I also had to close the app server times when it decided to take a break not loading anything but a blank white screen. Finally, after what seems like a technological battle I type in my CC info and press submit. I think all is going to go well, this we a silly thought, when it fails to load the confirmation screen! It accepted my payment, sending me an email to let me know; however, when I opened the email to download the tickets it would not scroll past the first ticket.


Please find a way to show “upcoming trips”

Frustrating having to go through emails and dig up a confirmation code to get trip details when the app is linked to the booking email and personal information.


Love Bolt Bus, Hate the App!

Bolt Bus provides the most efficient and acceptable low cost transportation from NYC to PHL. I’ve abandoned all other forms of transport as there’s no better comparison available to me at this time in my life. That said, the app is terrible. It’s slow, technologically basic, and incredibly frustrating when trying to book or access your tickets. I’ve used Bolt for several years now, and I noticed that these problems started recently when they experienced what I believe is a system update or overhaul. Go back to the old system, or please figure out how to make this one user friendly.

The new app is horrible. A major downgrade from the previous version. Basic functionality is messed up. The app constantly resets my trip searches if I briefly switch to a different app. Basic search features like quickly being able to swap destination and origin are missing. It’s a frustratingly bad redesign.

Whoever had the bright idea to change the whole design and functionality of the older app into this pile of crap should be fired. Not at all user friendly. Log in doesn’t work. Forgot password doesn’t work. Message/feedback took several tries before it was finally sent. Once I was able to log in my reservations weren’t saved. You have to go through emails to find your reservation number to look it up. What’s the point of an app to store your tickets if you can’t even access them easily???! The older app was simple to use and actually worked! Don’t waste your time with this new one. It’s crap.

The new app is so much worse than the old one. It is harder to navigate, there is no “cart” which means there’s no way to access your in-progress booking if you close the app, and I have to re-enter all of my information every time I use it. Very frustrating!


Needs So Much Improvement

This is one of the worst apps I have used for travel. There is no option to have boarding pass/bus tickets saved or on the app. You still have to access your email to get the ticket for Bolt Bus. This app is the bear minimum. It needs a huge update. Only thing you can do is purchase tickets and then you have to enter in your information every single time. Please please update your app to be more user friendly. I am deleting because I don’t even see the point of this app if it won’t keep track of my tickets/ boarding passes.

This app is worse than just using Chrome. It doesn't even display properly or to scale. I'm not impressed with Bolt customer service. I didn't get a boarding group option and purchased way in advance only to be put into group C. Customer service was no help and basically said too bad.

Have to rate this a 1 just for going backwards compared to where it was a few months ago. You need a confirmation # to view your tickets now... My confirmation # is in an email which contains the ticket making the new app basically pointless. The search used to have an easily clickable calendar. Now you have to filter for new parameters for every search. Also, it’s moved backwards visually. I assume the newer version uses less bandwidth because I can’t see any positives as a user.
